“Very nice, but scandalous bar prices”
Reviewed 6 June 2014 via mobile

Having just enjoyed a one night stay here, the setting is beautiful with very nice gardens and a small lake that is very relaxing to walk round and sit reading by. We ate at the restaurant and found the standard of food very good. Likewise the breakfast. All in all, excellent. But...I have to take issue with the bar prices which are not far short of a disgrace. We have just ordered a coke and a lemonade and it was £7.70. How is this justifiable? That's half the price of my evening meal. The lager was over £5 per pint. A lovely hotel, but such a shame that they have to tarnish it by ripping people off in this manner.

Thank you for your feedback and I am pleased that you enjoyed your overall stay with us and was able to take full advantage of our 12 acres of grounds.
Unfortunately the bar prices are competative within the local area for hotels of a similar standard

I stayed here for business, but I will be returning with my partner for that weekend break.

The interior decor will not be to everyone's taste, but the superior room I stayed in was well appointed with plenty of power sockets and actual wardrobe space.

the bathroom was the only real let down, tiles around the tap end of the bath had moldy grout around them and the shower screen had a ripped seal so water poured all over the floor. The bath side also showed signs of a poor cleaning regime. The hotel maintenance staff though are brilliant and after telling the guy as I passed his door in the morning about the shower screen seal it was replaced by lunchtime.

A word of warning though if you are a light sleeper like me, the room doors do slam quite loudly - or at least they do on the 400 range - and late night guests will wake you up as they traverse since few seem to give consideration for sleeping guests these days. Which is a shame as otherwise the beds aer very comfortable and the pillows varied enough to cater for most tastes

On the up side, the hotel boasts a spa, gym and pool and whilst i haven't tried the spa I did make use of the Pool, gym, steam room and sauna. The pool is not huge, but large enough to swim around rather than laps and they have a "no kids" time between 12 & 2 pm.

The restaurant is appropriate for the style of the hotel and the quality of the food is good. If you do not fancy this though the Ecclesall Road abounds with restaurants of all types and styles, but if American is your flavor then a visit to Uncle Sam's Chuck Wagon is a must.

Room Tip: The hotel has wonderfully groomed garden so a room over looking this is both good for a view, but al...

I had to make an unexpected stopover in Sheffield and after checking rates, and what would be available at that time of night on my phone, landed up here at Kenwood Hall.

I usually find that the common parts of UK hotels, the Reception and Dining areas etc, are good, but the bedrooms usually look a bit tired due to lack of investment. I have to say though that although I won't call my room brand spanking and packed with the latest high tech TV, it was clean, the bed was good, and it wasn't bad at all for the £62/night I paid.

Breakfast in the morning was a buffet affair and good. Kippers were on the menu as a special order which I can vouch for, although ask for two as the one that came out was tiny.

Check in and Check out was painless. As my stop was unexpected, the Reception staff very kindly let me borrow a iphone charger, which was a great help.

Overall, would I stay here again? Yep, no problem, for £62 including breakfast its good value.

Beautiful grounds, lovely function rooms, attentive staff and nice wedding breakfast. Corridors somewhat maze like and a few very tiny issues regarding marks and stains in the bedroom I stayed in. Decor of room subtle and pleasant enough, but a bit tired, especially in the bathroom. Comprehensive breakfast.

Bit of a marmite hotel. Great location for getting into Sheffield by walking downhill or taxi £5 to city centre and just 10 miles from Hathersage and walking country. We booked a suite in the old part of the original hall for the 3 of us, it had bedroom and separate living room with dividing doors, plenty of space and great views of the lake, grounds. Room was great but just needs a bit of refurbishment, need to upgrade plumbing.

Breakfast on offer is ok if it was better managed and chef reviewed and replenished more often got the feeling on both mornings that there was lack of leadership and organisation, there needed to be more customer facing staff to welcome and proactively look after the guests. They seem to thrive on reacting and crisis management. Frustrating really because it can be a great hotel and can understand previous reviews now. Front desk very helpful and efficient. As we spent most of the stay walking or in the city it was good value for money overall based on discounted rates paid.

Room Tip: Suite 500 is on the first floor and an excellent size. Has great views from both bedroom and separat...

Thank you for your feedback and I have passed on your comments regarding breakfast service to both the head chef and restaurant manager for further review of their service. Whilst it is difficult to control when all of the guests arrive at the same time as at a weekend there is things which can be implemented throughout which would improve the guest experience
I apologise if you felt their was no one in charge as there is a supervisor on each shift to oversea the service

A very enjoyable stay in lovely surroundings, good food and pleasant staff. Having read some of the negative reviews already published I have come to the conclusion they must have stayed in a different hotel to us! The room was tastefully decorated, the TV was a flat screen and the breakfast was excellent ..........

Room Tip: We were in ground floor 314 overlooking gardens.

Very much a function hotel but not the level of decoration or menu in either bar or restaurant that the website conveys. Staff friendly and helpful but mostly inexperienced. Relaxing atmosphere for dogs. Jacuzzi and pool good temperatures but very tired, inc tiles fallen off.

Thank you for your feedback.
We are a large hotel which specialises in weddings, conference and events and as we have extensive grounds we are a especially busy at the weekends.
We do have a large number of bedrooms located at the opposite entrance to our events centre which can be allocated in advance should you not be attending a function within the hotel
