“Lovely wedding venue”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We were here for a family wedding and as a wedding venue it is lovely. Beautiful grounds with fantastic views of the city in the background. Gardens are colourful (although summer bedding planting a bit 'municipal') but a bit gaudy in my opinion. The marriage room is a reasonable size holding 50 people with a beautiful ceiling and fireplace. The function room we had was also very nice although a bit tight for the numbers. Staff were efficient and friendly throughout the well organised wedding. The room we had which was a superior twin was well decorated and modern. Had plenty of accessible sockets, tv, kettle, hairdryer, ironing board etc. The bathroom let it down. It wasn't that clean with mould around fittings, the shower screen didn't fit well and subsequently water from the shower got onto the floor. The door jamb was broken. The bathroom radiator had obviously had a leak at some point and there was a large rust mark. Plenty of nice toiletries and the towels were clean and very absorbent. In general the room was OK but the bathroom was a disappointment. The beds were comfortable and the view was good. I'm sure there wasn't any air conditioning so could be very hot as the window only opened a few inches (for safety reasons I think). The room was overlooking the grounds at the back and was quiet. Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast delicious and Violet was a lovely waitress.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back but away from the function rooms if there is a wedding going on as you mi...

Just returned from a couple of nights at this hotel,

The Room (512) was good with flat screen TV.
The Food was perfectly fine apart from luke warm bacon & very pink sausage in the morning
The Bar is expensive and has no atmosphere
The Hotel grounds are great - could do with lighting up the patio area at night
Check in & Check out Problem-free

Overall would definitely stay again & am happy to recommend this hotel for business customers
or as a wedding venue

The Stags head pub at the end of Kenwood road is great (5 min walk)

Took a weekend mini break with my wife here & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Got an upgraded room (for a small charge) with patio doors that faced out onto a small lake. Even though this hotel is situated in the heart of sheffield you get the feeling you're deep in the countryside. Very quiet even though there were 2 weddings taking place. We ate at the hotel restauarant the 1st night as we arrived kinda late, the food is nice pretty simple menu but cooked well & well presented, found it a little pricey though. really nice staff and a beautiful large comfy room with a very comfy super kingsize bed. quite a distance from the hotel reception to our room but that really didn't bother us, might be a little difficult for elderly or disabled guests though. Had a delicious Thai meal on the 2nd night on London road but don't remember the restaurant name (sorry) but there are loads of good restaurants on London Road & we felt spoilt for choice with Thai, chinese. mexican, American, Japanese restaurants just a few to choose from. We also ate at a BBQ Place called Yankees which I can highly reccomend, being an American I really do appreciate good BBQ & here in the UK this place stands head & shoulders above the rest. The most authentic homestyle Texas BBQ this side of the Rio Grande, "Seriously!" Awesome food & We highly reccomend eating here if you love BBQ. All in all a very nice peaceful relaxing stay in Sheffield. Loads to see & do & no shortage of rest & relaxation to be had. I can also reccomend the spa facilities at the hotel. Not very big but steam room, sauna, hot tub & pool all very relaxing, clean & tidy. Kenwood Hall & the surrounding areas ticked all the boxes. Just try and remember you're in the Middle of a busy city center not out in a cottage on the Yorkshire Dales sometimes it's hard to do. Will most certainly be going for another short weekend break here again

Stayed here with baby , husband and dog. Standard double room but it was massive, room 201. Room service good and quick. Breakfast lovely. Travel cot provided which was in excellent condition. Plenty of towels and other stuff you'd need in the room.

Great location with very nice gardens and outside terrace.
The rooms though are tired and the hotel lacks atmosphere - the walls are also very thin so I could hear all of the conversations going on in the rooms next door - very annoying!
The staff were very friendly but there were not enough of them - I gave up trying to call room service as no one answered the phone.
I was also disappointed with the restaurant which I found overpriced and of a low standard
This is definitely a hotel geared up for corporate large scale entertaining to an "ok- ish" level

Finding that I had booked a Principal Hayley - I had my doubts as I think that even they would agree that they are more conference centre than hotel.

Parked the car in a large and free car park.
Room 437 is quite large with two double beds in it. Tea and coffee facilities and the older style TV as others have commented on. The mini bar is no longer in the place where it was designed to be.

I had a bath and the pressure and volume of hot water was fine.

The room looks out over a lawn and a lake - super. It also has a patio and tables and chairs underneath the window as I was to be reminded of later on....
At 2 15 am I was woken by load talking - arguing maybe. I looked outside to see a group of 3 on the chairs with a few drinks. Very tempted to throw something out at them.

I chose not to eat in here - mainly through other reviews.

A tricky review as I look first and foremost at a good nights sleep in a hotel. I did not get one.

Thank you for your feedback and I apologise that you were disturbed by other guests at the hotel. I have passed your comments to the night team in order for them to ensure that they are regularly checking the outside patio areas to ensure that guests are not disturbed during the night

This hotel is very conveniently; it is very close to the city centre, about a mile but its location is such that you do not feel you are so close to the centre! We managed to drive to the Peak District within good time too, approximately 30 mins which was fantastic.

Check in staff were was efficient and friendly. The rooms are average and a little dated but very spacious; however it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a standard hotel breakfast and nice enough.

The twelve acres of land are beautiful and we enjoyed taking a stroll through the grounds in the evening, particularly near the lovely pond where ducks are to be found.

The hotel benefits from ample free car parking and 11 acres of land in which you can sit back and relax and enjoy the views of both the grounds and lake within easy reach of the busy town centre
