Blists Hill is exactly how museums should be - involving and fun for all ages and perfect for a family day out. I visited with my niece, great niece (aged 6) and sister and really couldn't fault it. The costumed museum staff all happily chat to you about 'their life, work and home' and the whole emphasis is on participation and literally 'living' the experience, rather than having to read lots of information. My sister and I shared previously almost forgotten memories of grandparents, and it was a fantastic opportunity to pass those memories onto the next two generations. We especially loved the sing along in the pub, the fish and chips, the mine tunnel, the Victorian fairground, the carpenters & blacksmiths, the squatters cottage, the beautiful (and really well looked after) shire horses and the fabulous setting in the stunning Ironbridge Gorge. But everything really was great - real quality time that was so rewarding for all four of us on many different levels and definitely worth the money. Well done Ironbridge!

On entering the museum you watch a well presented and put together film introduction to the history of the area. Terrific sound. Once this finishes you move through a corridor and when going outside you really feel as you have gone back in time!

There is so much to see that it is quite easy to spend a day here. The shops are facinating with guides in period costume who are always willing to answer your questions. Little sketches like the policeman telling the young lad off and giving him a clip round the ear really bring the place to life.

A must is to treat yourself to fish and chips from the chip shop. They are excellent. Don't forget to ask for scraps!

A trip into the past with this Victorian town. A great way of entertaining kids with an enquiring mind with lots to learn. Easy to spend a whole day so wear shoes suitable for a lot of walking and best visited in the dry.
There is great attention to detail, even down to stable lasses wearing hobnail boots. We visited the Bank late in the day and were able to hold a discussion with the teller who impressed with his knowledge and as an ex bank employee (with the same bank, albeit a century later) played the part to perfection. Listening to the photographer who was taking pictures of visitors (who were able to don costumes), we were impressed with the skill with which he made the subjects at ease and this was equally true of other staff we encountered. The children also loved the Victorian fair and it was great to see them get enjoyment from something pre Playstation/Xbox age.
To sum up, it is very rare that I find attractions value for money and even rarer that I will write reviews. A great day
To make the most of the day, arrive early and prepare to lose yourself in the sights, sounds, smells and activities of a bygone age.

We had a great time here, spent most of the day but still didn't feel that we'd seen everything.
The car park was fairly full, but the place somehow didn't feel too crowded. Visiting the various shops and workshops was fun for all of us, the walk to the inclined plane and back down the miners' path was lovely and it was hard to drag the children away from the funfair. We thought the catering was excellent as it was at the other Ironbridge sights.

We really enjoyed Blists Hill - it was fascinating to wander in and out of the shops, bank, schoolroom, pub etc. Better to go on a dry or dry-ish day.

The fish and chips were the best ever - £5 for a small portion but they were so yummy! Kids loved changing money then getting very confused trying to spend their old money. School mistress very strict and our 7 year old a bit scared!

Overrall, a definite must to go here.
