“Victorian experience”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

Although this town is undoubtedly a lot cleaner than it would have been in Victorian times it was a good experience with plenty to see and do. Well thought out entertainment, good costumes. Perhaps a little pricey entrance fee if not buying an annual pass.

“Absolutely fabulous”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

An amazing place for the whole family. Our son loved exchanging new money for old in the town's bank and then being able to pay for sweets, bakery goods, etc in pennies, threepenny pieces and farthings. People in Victorian costume are manning the shops and various areas and are very happy to talk about their areas. There's a vast array of shops, workshops, a foundry, brick works, Victorian fairground, etc. We went on 'Alice in Wonderland' weekend which was excellent - the acting group was fantastic. We took a picnic but will try the fish and chips next time which smelt delicious. We're already looking forward to our next visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this amazing place which was as educational as it was fun.

“A good day out”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We dropped in while in the area for a Glenn Miller concert and had a good day at the Victorian Town.
It was perhaps a little quitter than expected with a couple of things out of action but overall it made for a nice day.
We had a light lunch in the Pub which was very passable and even as adults we enjoyed watching part of the Alice in Wonderland Tea Party, all of the characters took their roles very seriously and ensured that everyone enjoyed themselves.
I don't think it was quite at the same level as the Beamish Museum in Durham and is not cheap at £16.50 each for admission but if in the area it's worth visiting and would probably be even more enjoyable if you have Children with you.

“Stepping Back in Time”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Have been round Black Country Museum as well as Beamish Museum this place is very similar but still doe not detract from the place there are lots of places to visit like the dentist surgery bakery locksmith and the old school. It was a hot day and it was nice to just be able to sit and people watch, great to see the kids playing on the croquet lawn or just running around playing tag. Listened to a bit of old time music hall singing while having lunch above the pub. A definite good day out for all the family

“A alternative day out”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

My wife and I visited Blists Hill having seen it advertised aWhere we were staying nearby, I did think admission charges were a little on the high side but we had a very enjoyable visit. While we were there an Alice in Wonderland weekend was occurring. Apart from the Victorian industrial buildings there was a funfair for the kids and the Alice characters were excellent in keeping young and old entertained, we experienced a Victorian lesson in the schoolhouse and the Head master Mr McCreedy was excellent and very entertaining. Horse and cart rides are available and the pub and chippy provided excellent food. I would highly recommend Blists Hill.
