“Fab Feathers 5th Wedding Anniversary!!”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow. My husband and I have had a wonderful time and can't say enough good things about this place. We booked through Hotels.com for a Luxury Double Room and the description was spot on. Upon arrival, we parked in the car park at the rear (it is small, but get there early and you shouldn't have a problem). Check in was smooth and very friendly (special thanks to Kelly, who was very helpful). We were allocated room 244, so set off in the lift and found the room easily. The room itself was huge, very tastefully decorated but keeping to the 'old' style. The bed was very comfortable and gave us both a great night's sleep. Curtains blocked the light coming in when the sun came up, so both felt refreshed in the morning. Storage in the room is plentiful with all of the amenities you would expect (IE Hairdryer, Iron & Ironing board, Trouser press, complimentary mineral water and great coffee and tea making facilities, radio alarm, telephone, dressing table with mirror and flatscreen TV with DVD player). The room also had a large open gas fire, making it very cosy at the end of the evening to enjoy a nightcap in the privacy of your own room. The en-suite bathroom was equally as large, with a double power shower and a double jacuzzi bath and heated towel rail. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and attention to detail by cleaning staff was clearly evident. We ate in the Feathers restaurant on the first night and found the food very tasty and enjoyable for a set menu on Valentine's Day. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the food he was serving to us and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was included with our stay and was excellent on both mornings with plenty of choice including a continental buffet with the normal cereals, juices, fruit etc, to a cooked breakfast with a choice of fried, scrambled or poached eggs. There was also porridge, Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or Haddock and poached egg as an alternative to the usual full english. Public areas were all clean, warm and welcoming with roaring log fires, which were continually being attended to. All staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and approachable and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, in fact we never return to the same place twice, but would make an exception for The Feathers! Don't hesitate, book it now! We had a wonderful 5th Wedding Anniversary.

My wife and I stayed for Valentine's night. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The room was amazing with a lovely view over the courtyard. An amazing 4 poster bed and a whirlpool bath. 2 sitting chairs around an open fire and a well stocked tea / coffee tray. The evening meal was amazing - fish cooked to perfection and beef fillet almost 'moo'ing. Plenty to choose from for breakfast. The residents have the use of a guest lounge on the first floor an a wood panelled room that has an ornate plaster ceiling. Its well worth curling up in front of the fire here for an hour or so on a rainy afternoon with a good book.

My husband and I have just returned home after spending a night at The Feathers hotel. We booked through Amazon and cannot fault the way in which we were treated. Our room was very comfortable; all the staff were extremely friendly, efficient and welcoming; the food was superb.
Many thanks to all. We will definitely return and recommend to friends. Despite the rain we found plenty to do in Ludlow. Don't miss Dinham House, Green's Cafe by the river, the museum and a climb up the tower of St Lawrence Church.

Booked a one night voucher stay which included DBB. From the moment we parked the car in the hotel car park to the moment we left we enjoyed the whole experience. All of the staff were excellent, particular mention of James on reception with whom we booked a return stay with some visiting friends. We were fortunate to be upgraded room wise and were hugely impressed with the very large, well furnished and extremely comfortable room we had. Splendid shower and separate jacuzzi bath. We had a delicious evening meal in the restaurant and one of the tastiest cooked breakfasts I have had at a hotel. The waiting staff were very competent, friendly and impressive.
As a previous reviewer has already commented, the residents lounge and the writing room are a must to relax in, steeped in history and very interesting. I think that the ludlow brewery beer which is available in the bar must also be mentioned as worth trying and that just about completes a very memorable stay. Thanks to all the staff and we are looking forward to returning soon.

What a lovely place to have the privilege to stay in....soon old and interesting with roaring log fires in every public room, if you take the lift don't miss out on the residents lounge or writing room....very comfortable, excellent content and presentation of food and lovely staff. This place is a must stay or even just see for foreign visitors...

My husband booked a night away at the Feathers through Amazon. Was overwhelmed by the room we were given.
We only expected a basic room but was put in a beautiful large room with four poster bed ! The bathroom had spa bath and lovely power shower too.
Couldn't have wanted anything more. The staff were really friendly , the evening meal was superb, and the service was of high standard!!!
Thank you for a lovely stay. Will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We were in 251 beautiful room

Telephoned the Hotel on the evening of Wednesday 5th February to follow up on a previous attempt to book.

The response from the incompetent man I spoke to was anything but cooperative, and very negative.

Having visited Ludlow in the past, and eaten a lovely lunch at The Feathers, receiving good service, it is a great shame that one weak link lets down this lovely Hotel.
