A good selection of real ales and 'pub' food. We shared a ham baguette, which was served with salad and chips. The portions are large, so make sure you are hungry.

The olde worlde facade in a town centre setting made us slightly wary of finding a tourist trap inside but happily we had a lovely meal. Plenty of wood beams lent atmosphere to a warm wednesday lunchtime. The menu was varied around usual pub grub and the cost reasonable. Our steak / sausage baguettes came with some salad (fresh) and chips: portion size generous and quality was v good. Very tasty, and a bit tummy stretching! Service quick and friendly. Would definitely eat here again.

Went to Ludlow on Monday, June 2nd for a day out. Ludlow is such a beautiful town with lots of quaint shops and steeped in history. We fancied a bite to eat and popped into this pub. Very old fashioned pub, staff friendly and welcoming. They have a good selection of old ales and a good pub menu. I had the steak and kidney pie which came with veg, my partner had the lasagne with veg and chips. When our meals came they were piping hot, I had half a very large pie which was very tasty, lasagne a good portion size and again very tasty. We looked at the other meals being served and all looked tempting to eat with plenty on the plate. The pub looks from the outside full of character but inside basic but clean. However we did enjoy the food and would go back again. Very good value for your money. They do have a restaurant upstairs for evening bookings.

We tried to get in at The Church Inn as it had been recommended but it was full. The landlady recommended Ye Olde Bull Ring. From the outside, the pub looks like its going to be full of old original character but sadly, that wasn't what we found. It felt very cold, characterless and "boring". There were only 2 other tables occupied which made me think, should we leave because it wasn't busy (compared to the Church) but we were so tired and hungry, we stayed put.

We weren't disappointed with the food, in fact it was very good! I had the home made lasagne and my son had a steak. Both were cooked to perfection.

There was only girl waiting on and she was also serving at the bar so it was fortunate all round that the pub was quiet. Even so, she was running around doing everything!

I think there are nicer places to eat - nicer ambience - but we could not fault the food.
