“Great for Kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2012

This little museum is great for kids. Packed with info and full of things they can touch and try on. Self-directed treasure hunts help structure their visit, if that's what you fancy. Otherwise they can just wander around, sticking their hands in the mystery boxes and trying on the replica Norman helmets. If it's rainy, this makes for a perfect family diversion. The nominal charge of £1 per person makes this attraction excellent value.

“Town museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2008

The museum, which is in the Market Square, has just opened after a refurbishment. It is free and interesting, giving a history of the town, castle and a section of the geology of the area. Worth a visit
