Very welcoming.. Rooms clean
and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and adequate supper for those who did not want to bother to venture into town. Nothing was too much trouble. Location perfect. Walking distance of town. Staff extremely obliging.

We stayed recently (26th-28th April) in room 9- a small twin room with all the facilities that you could wish for. The room and hotel were extremely clean and the location of the hotel was stunning offering wonderful countryside views. the hotel is within easy reach of Ludlow with all its great places to see. Most of all we enjoyed the breakfasts which were made from locally sourced food- the bacon and sausage was fantastic. I don't think that I have ever tasted breakfasts as good as these. Service was also excellent and friendly. Gwyn the manager made us really feel welcomed and it was really good to speak to Helen the owner of the hotel. The bar facilities offered a good selection of beers and spirits- the local brew (Ludlow Brewing Gold and Hobsons beers are excellent. We decided to eat in the restaurant in the evening and the three course meal for £20 was fantastic value- we chose the Plaice goujons and Camenbert for starters and these were well received by us- really tasty.Mixed grill and Beef in red wine for one of the evening main courses and desserts such as treacle pudding (as light as a feather- no stodge) the food was well cooked with quality ingredients and very tasty. Both our evening meals were very tasty and presented with finesse. This is a real friendly hotel that offers value for money, good food and drinks in an excellent location- what more could you ask for. Would I recommend this hotel- yes without a doubt! If we ever visit Ludlow again, this will be the place for us to stay.

Room Tip: Look at the double rooms in the hotel which the owner recommended to us - at the time only the twin...

Good value hotel situated in gorgeous quiet location with lovely views of the Castle yet only a nice gentle 10 minute stroll into town. Friendly local staff, good breakfast using local ingredients and decent beers in the bar - all at a very reasonable price.

We visited Ludlow for dinner at an acclaimed Michelin restaurant, and were seeking to keep a resonable budget for the stay. The double room was on the first floor, and cost only £65 for B&B. The room had a pleasant view across open countryside.

The Hotel is in a quiet rural location just across the River from Ludlow Castle with easy access to the town centre and Ludlow's restaurants. We arrived early and we were made welcome and allowed to leave the car at the Hotel whilst we explored the casle and town, saving car parking charges in public carparks, and leavng the car in a more secure location. The road back to the town was well lit for walking back in the dark late at night.

The room was well maintained and smartly presented with cushions on the bed, and was fully equiped with a hairdrier and good quality shower gel and shampoo.

Full english breakfast was included in the price with a choice of juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and a selection of full english, kippers, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs etc., all sourced from local suppliers.

Speciality teas were available

Well located for forays into the nearby sights, villages and castles. Great for walks into the countryside and by the River Teme.

Hotel is small and functional. Serves a good breakfast and dinner. Rooms are basic but have all the required amenities. Pleasant and attentive staff.

The Cliffe Hotel is a short distance from the centre of Ludlow (I strolled the half mile into the centre of town, along the river bank, over the bridge, and then under the walls of the castle up to the central square in about 10 minutes - a very pleasant short early morning walk) with ample parking, quiet, clean and comfortable. Helen, our host was friendly and helpful, as were all the staff.

On a cold and wintry weekend the hotel was full, which says it all ...

We had a twin room at the top of the hotel, which had windows on two sides, and was light and comfortable. TV worked well, Wifi OK but a bit sporadic, bath had a hand shower - water pressure, being at the top of the hotel was not high pressure, but worked.

Bar in the evening was friendly, patronised by locals, and with very sensible pricing on spirits. Breakfast in the morning was home cooked to order and excellent. Great kippers.

Definitely recommended

My girlfriend and I are just back from a weekend break in Ludlow where we had an enjoyable stay at The Cliffe Hotel.

The hotel has ample onsite parking free of charge. Check-in was professionally done and we were given a map of Ludlow and directions to a few of the main sights. The room was well appointed and very clean, the bed was of a reasonable quality and the shower was good although the bathroom was a bit on the small side.

Breakfast was excellent, with a nice choice of cereals and the full English breakfast was well cooked with produce procured from local suppliers, a very tasty start to the day.

The hotel itself is situated about a 15 minute walk from Ludlow town centre, on the castle side of town. The only drawback is that it's situated on a country lane which is dimly lit with a not particularly good footpath, so it's not ideal for walking at night.

So overall i'd rate the hotel as: Location - OK, Service - Very Good, Room - Good, Breakfast - Excellent, Value - Very Good.
