Not a huge menu but something for everyone and interesting well cooked food at a decent price. Smart venue and friendly staff to match. Very much a restaurant to satisfy the foodies of Ludlow. Great setting overlooking fields near river and a short walk into historical town.

We stayed here for two nights. We had a double room and a sofa bed for our two young children. The decor of the room was dated but the en suite had been modernised. The breakfast and service was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. The restaurant and bar areas had recently been built/refurbished and were very comfortable. The hotel seems to be passing through a major transition - moving into the modern world. I hope the owners succeed with this venture as we very much enjoyed our stay

We stayed here returning from our holiday as we wanted to visit Ludlow. We took the cottage. Rooms fine, one quite small, children ended up having the bigger one as both made as doubles.... The Architecture in unprepossessing but the rooms have been done up in a minimalist tasteful style. What we really enjoyed was the food, Much better than we expected both dinner and breakfast and lots of local produce. The slow cooked lambs breast with cracked wheat definitely worth a mention. A very easy walk into Ludlow.

We stayed on the 16th August 2014. An excellent room on the second floor with views of the castle. It is only a 10 minute walk from the castle entrance, lovely rural location and very peaceful. The staff are friendly and efficient and the newly refurbished reception, dining and breakfast rooms are very smart (love the green colour on the walls). The breakfast was exceptional; quality produce and well cooked. I think the orange juice was the 'real mccoy'; none of the usual watered down juice you tend to get. We cannot really fault our one night stay; would recommend the venue and definitely return in the future. Thank you ...

Room Tip: Rural location, so I imagine all rooms are very quiet.

A very friendly family run hotel. Every member of staff was very helpful. Comfortable bar and dining area and excellent value for money all round with breakfast as part of the stay.

Lattes are delicious. An innovative and delicious dinner menu, including slow cooked lamb, pea soup and cannelloni.

Room Tip: There is a separate detached cottage with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom which was unavailable f...

Popped in here for drinks only, so can't talk to the food or accommodation but the beer was well kept and the place looks really smart now (definitely changed a lot since my last visit in the 1980s (!).

Based on what I saw and tasted I'd be tempted to go back again ...

And of course it's easy to forget that this has some lovely views of the castle (just need to ignore the caravan park next door).

I'd also recommend the nearby walk across fields to Bromfield, did this a couple of times before, but this time was great fun (diagonally across a field of 6ft maize was interesting!)

It's lost all it's comfyness since the renovations. Rooms were OK. Breakfast was OK. But the bar area was sparse, and the seating looked good, but you wouldn't want to sit on the chairs for too long as they were so uncomfortable. For a restaurant, I guess the bar area was OK, but for those of us staying over, we had no comfortable area to sit, have a drink, enjoy the bar, etc. Therefore, they lost out on bar takings, because we stayed in the pubs in Ludlow instead. Might be an idea to have some comfy chairs, or at least benches, in the large garden area as well.

Room Tip: No lift available, so if you have access issues, ensure you book on the 1st floor. Quite a few stee...
