“Absolutely amazing!”

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. On booking the table I said that if there is anything else they can do to make it more special for his birthday that would be great and they did. On top of the fantastic food and service they gave us a complementary sparkling wine glass each and an extra dessert plate with happy birthday on.
The whole night was a dining experience with the fantastic quality of the food and the way it was served. I'm so grateful to the team for making our night so special it was thoroughly enjoyed.
I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting an incredible dining experience in a beautiful, beautiful restaurant.

“Great food - freezing cold room.”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We dined at La Becasse on New Year's Eve, and the food was absolutely superb. We had the 7 course tasting menu with each one beautifully presented and with the exception of the Roquefort Trifle - which was not to our taste - delicious.

The service was also excellent with the whole team giving us a fantastic experience.

The only complaint was the fact that the room was freezing cold - one lady asked for her coat and sat eating her food wearing it. We asked for a heater next to our table which did help but the temperature seriously detracted from our overall enjoyment, and was a big disappointment. It was not particularly cold outside so there really was no excuse.

“Quite excellent”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

Until I read the recent bad reviews I was realy lookingforward to dining La Becasse today. I should not have been worried. From the initial greeting the whole experience could not be faulted. Un noticed by us there was a hickup with our order so we were treated to an extra amuse bouche, we could not have cared less and would happily have stayed all afternoon and just been treated to these mouth pleasing treats. My husband and I enjoyed every mouthful that passed our lips. The sommelier was knowledgable and attentive without being pushy. The rest of the staff friendly and professional. An earlier review criticised the table spacing, I thought it perfect, I only want to listen to people at the same table. I can't wait to go back. Thank you LaBecasse, a memorable lunch.

“Pity”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

Being local we've eaten fairly regularly at La Bécasse. It used to be a place you could rely on for superb cuisine and excellent service. Lunch on 13 Dec., however, let us down. Not so much the food, which did deliver, but maybe not to the same standard as in Holland's day, but the service left much to be desired. Our wine order did not arrive until we repeated it after the first course had arrived, one waitress kept dropping spoons, and when we finished there was no-one to find our coats, etc. or show us out, so we had to scrabble round ourselves to get our stuff. To be fair they did give us "digestifs" to make up for poor service, but one got the impression that trainees had been drafted in. Definitely not good value for money. Shan't be back until things buck up.
