“Good Family day out. Plan to go back.”
Reviewed 22 October 2011

We drove up from Kidderminster and had a justified journey. I had checked Trip Advisor before I left to see if others thought it worth it. It was ! Myself and my wife , and out little 17month old went along and enjoyed a good 4 to 5 hours (including the pic nic we took). Reasonable parking and a nice welcome was a good start.

Definately take a picnic in my opinion if only to be able to choose from I guess about 4 or 5 good picnic points. The valley before the ascent , the Tower, the area around the The Column or up near the the caves , or of course the Gingerbeard house. We felt the need to stop at the valley as our little one was hungry before we climbed. But then later thought we should have waited.

We enjoyed the walks , the challenge that signage often lead to ...:) and the caves were great. I particulary rate the Cleft as something where Lord of the Rings could be filmed and not look amiss.

Definately plan to return to see the plants another time of year, and to bring the in laws.

Well worth a visit in our opinion.

“Walking trail with something for everyone.”
Reviewed 20 September 2011

My husband and I used to do quite a bit of walking before having kids but have done very little since. The places we used to walk would bore young kids silly, never mind the issues of long distances and little legs. We went to Hawkstone Park Follies with friends with little idea of what the place was. We found a walking trail of several miles (guessing somewhere between 5 and 7 miles) that travels through a hugely varied landscape and along it's length is dotted with interesting features like caves, towes, huts and footbridges across ravines. Having something different to explore every few minutes really helped the kids keep going. Everyone in the group (aged 2 and 1/2 to 38!) enjoyed it thoroughly and all for different reasons. Definitely going back.
Tip: take drinks and snacks. The snack hut at the furthest point was not open when we were there in the school holidays and it was a long way back to the tearoom so we were very glad of our picnic.
Also, our 2 and 1/2 year old is a strong walker so we did not need the pushchair. It would not have been practical to take one due to lots of climbs and narrow, uneven paths.

“A brillinat day out in the countryside”
Reviewed 19 September 2011

Hawkstone Park Follies is a walk, sometimes strenuos, through a beautiful piece of Shropshire countryside. It is a great place for children to visit as there are cave and hidy holes everywhere, Which are equaly attractive for the inner child in any adult. A great view is afforded from one of the follies over most of Shropshire, Stafford and the West Midlands right out to Wales. The only downside to this attraction is that it is a fair weather place. Personaly I wouldn't recomend it if it was giving a good old traditional British rain lashing. But don't let that put you off it is a thoroughly great place to visit.

“Brilliant - incredible place - wear sensible shoes and take a picnic”
Reviewed 15 September 2011

Have never been anywhere like it - the best place we have been this year. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Need to wear sensible walking shoes and take your camera. There are easier paths for the less fit or those with smaller children.

“Great day, good workout!”
Reviewed 13 September 2011

Hawkstone Park Follies were recommended to us by some fellow caravaners. What a fantastic place!
Make sure you have good sturdy footwear as there are steep steps and pathways. It is also advisable to take a torch if you plan on going in the caves as some areas are very dark but well worth the effort. They do sell torches for a reasonable price in the shop at the start of the walk.
You can easily spend a full day there if you have a picnic and plenty refreshments with you. The sign at the gate states last admissions 3pm and they close at 5pm - You would have to be a very fast and fit walker to get round the whole park in that time so make sure you give yourself plenty time to enjoy the views. The trip up to the top of the tower takes some effort but is definitely worth it - the views are breathtaking.
We had a great day and met some wonderful people.
