We spent the day at Hawkstone Park Follies yesterday as a family group of 9 aged from 65 to 11. We all had a really lovely day.
After reading some of the reviews on here I was a bit concerned that the terrain may be a bit challenging and that the complete the whole walk would take us a very long time. However we were all pleasantly surprised. The terrain was fine - any steep inclines were stepped (although at times we felt maybe the slope would have been easier to negotiate than the very large steps). The views from the top of the walkway areas were fantastic. I was nervous about the Swiss bridge as I do not like heights and from pictures I had seen it looked quite long, but it took a matter of seconds to (quickly) walk across and I was soon safely on the other side - I'm afraid I didn't pause to admire the view here!
We did find the signs confusing at times and weren't sure which was to go as we walked into the park to make sure that we saw everything there was to see - and the printed map offered in the shop really wasn't much help at all - we are seasoned hikers and used to using a "proper" OS map to navigate by, so an illustrated map with strange pictures and windy yellow pathways wasn't much help in aiding our exploration!
We were delighted to find the ice cream shop at the top was open as a lot of reviewers on here had been disappointed to find it wasn't. however I will agree with a lot of reviewers in that the toilets good do with some TLC, and toilet paper!!
We found deals on ticket prices on Travelzoo website (similar can be found on Groupon) offering nearly half price deals which we used - I think the full entrance price is very steep when you consider the amount of beautiful countryside this country has to offer for free.
We probably would visit again (but only if we could get a bargain deal!)
