Attended Christmas "Carol" service on a Sunday night a few days before Christmas. Choir was wonderful, and the young girls choir was really good as well. The service was a truly "English" church experience that was very simple yet poignant. It hit the mark for the spirit of the season.

St Chads like so many churches is a great place to visit. Whether you are into stained glass, architecture, wood carvings or just looking for somewhere quiet to contemplait your thoughts.

The church yard is also interesting and includes the grave of Ebeneezer Scrooge from the film A Christmas Carol which was filmed in Shrewsbury.

I have walked passed this church many a time but when it was featured on Songs of Praise I decided next time I was in Shrewsbury I would go inside. Yesterday I did just that and how beautiful it is. The stained glass windows alone were well worth the visit!!! The churchyard was used in the filming of A Christmas Carol and you can still see the "gravestone" of Ebenezer Scrooge.

If you are in Shrewsbury take some time to visit St Chads (across the road from the Quarry). It is a beautiful church and unusually it is circular. Lots of interesting history around the walls and the altar with the dark stained glass window behind is stunning.

We followed the sound of the bells. We arrived just prior to a service, but the man who greeted us graciously welcomed us and gave us a brief history of the church. He said it was "new" church only 200 years old. It was lovely and we were very glad to have found it.
