My husband and I stayed for 1 night and we were given the loft room. An utterly gorgeous room. A previous reviewer mentioned the small bath but I think it has to be so because of the space available. I tried it and it is perfect for a relaxing soak. There is also a shower room. Going down a few steps to the bedroom area there is plenty of space. We enjoyed the ambience of the hotel - candles everywhere which adds to the atmosphere of this olding building. The chef had prepared sandwiches for us on our return from the theatre. We felt well looked after. Will stay again.

I booked this hotel on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews and it lived up to all expectations. Nice, clean rooms, maybe a bit on the small side, but since you really only use them to sleep they were fine. The food and wine in the evening was very tasty and reasonably priced, considering the quality. The service by the waitresses was very good, professional and friendly at the same time. The only small problem during the meal was that the white wine wasn't cooled sufficiently, but this was rectified by the waitress when it was pointed out. The only negative point is that the car park was quite small and access to it was via a very narrow gateway, but once in and parked it was fine.

Overall a very enjoyable experience.

I came here with my boyfriend for my birthday and stayed in the loft room, absolutely LOVED it, staff lovely, sooo clean and tidy, food delicious, and the room was amazing! Would recommend it to any couples :) apart from the bath was too small ;)

Lets start with the negative the rooms at the front of the hotel are excellent if you can sleep with almost constant traffic noise even after a very good bottle of Rioja I was well awake from 04.00 onwards. They have made an effort with the secondary glazing but a good nights sleep is not on the cards in these rooms. Now for the possatives what a jewel of a place this is great staff, excellent food and a good central location with Arabian nights style bedrroms complete with top class bedding and well fitted bathrooman complete with an excellent power shower. Small car park to the rear watch out for the tight entrance & dont even think of trying to park your Hummer in here go to the NCP over the road. I wll be back but will have to stay well away from the road side rooms.

Room Tip: Stay well away from the rooms at the road side unless you could sleep in the central reservation of...

We had one night here staying on the front corner room over looking the bridge. As a result the traffic made the room very noisy, even with secondary glazing, and meant that we didn't have a good night's sleep as is their hope according to their information booklet. We did ask about changing but they admitted that nearly all the rooms suffer from significant traffic noise.
We were charged for a superior room and couldn't see what made it superior. We were told that the difference is only the size; a big difference in price between the two room sizes so I guess the standard rooms are just well appointed cupboards.
I did research before hand and figured that as the room rate was comparatively high and the pictures looked good that this would be a class act. Having experienced it I would say that, in appearance, it is like an Audi or BMW and charge based on this perception. the problem is that when you drive the car you discover an old Austin Metro engine under the bonnet.
Overall I would say, traffic noise and high prices aside, this is a lovely place to stay, they try to hard please but are working with a fundamentally flawed product.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the traffic noise but bear in mind they don't have many

Stayed for one night in August 2011 (flower show weekend) and was quite surprised at the large increase in the price of rooms due to the flower show. Having said that this hotel is really nice. I had a superior room which was lovely if a little on the small side. The bathroom had a huge shower and very good quality fittings. There are lots of stairs to climb (no lift) but an offer from reception to carry my case was very welcome. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we had an absolutely fabulous meal in the restaurant that evening and a very good lunch the following day. The only downside food wise was that I had to wait ages for an omellette at breakfast (almost 25 minutes) and when it arrived it was like eating cardboard. However I would most certainly stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: If you are not keen on stairs make sure you ask which floor you are on when booking. The rooms over...

Stayed here for one night last week, with my two sisters. We found it at the last minute, having had a dreadful night in a Travelodge. This place was a revelation - it's just so pretty and beautifully decorated, in a simple, modern yet slightly shabby chic way. The room was delightful - my only criticisms being that there wasn't enough storage space. The wardrobe was TINY and wouldn't have been big enough for a man's jacket, yet there was a space next to the bathroom door where a full length wardrobe could fit. Also, I slept on the little day bed in an alcove with no light above the bed. The bar and dining areas are very attractive and we had delicious drinks and dinner in the hotel as we didn't feel like going out. It was quite noisy at night with traffic passing outside but on the plus side, the hotel is very centrally situated and has off street parking and a pretty patio area where it would be nice to sit for drinks etc if the weather was good. Altogether, highly recommended.
