“a good experience”

this was a very interesting experience to see all the history of the soldiers from history to the present day. There is only a £2 fee but it is well worth the money and there is a lot to see.

“Inspiringly presented galleries in this museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

This museum exceeded all my expectations. The artifacts and displays are clearly and imaginatively portrayed and each gallery tells the changing story of this ancient town, its famous inhabitants and the wealth of history to be found in Shropshire. In addition, the building itself is of great interest as it includes a 13th century merchant's house as well as the original music hall.I felt it was great value for the small entrance fee.

“Review of Visitor Centre/Guided Walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

I recently visited Shrewsbury and had just a few hours to spare so headed for the TIC. I was pleased to see that it had a gallery and museum attached in a refurbished building but less pleased to see that there was an entry fee of £4 whereas usually these facilities are free or available at a nominal charge. (On my return home I see that this charge caused plenty of local controversy in the press).
This is no doubt an attempt by the local Council to claw back the cost of providing the new attraction and a by product of the squeeze in local government finances - arts and museums are easy targets. I skipped this and instead paid £5 for the guided walk of the town that is bookable at the TIC. The Guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant and did not mind at all having just a few people on his walk. It was not at all rushed and was very good value for money.
The part of the Museum relating to the Roman occupation of the surrounding area is free and worth a visit.
