We were welcomed with smiles even though they were busy, promptly seated, drinks orders taken, etc. The waiting staff knew all the details of the specials, were friendly and courteous. I had cassoulet with a confit leg of duck and sausage, with home made bread, we also had fish pie full of salmon, prawns and white fish, delicious!
Minimalist decor, the focus is on great food, showing you the ingredients and the cooking - if hearing "Yes Chef!" on Gordon Ramsey's programmes drives you insane ask for a table away from the kitchen, but it didn't bother me, they were just getting the food out quickly and efficiently. I will definitely be back, and many other customers seemed to be regulars. Enjoy!

Number Four gives you everything, not only delicious, fresh food but also lovely, friendly service. We have been twice now and will definitely be going back very often!

If you're looking for a relaxed lunch, with extra special food, then this is your place, they do an amazing home made fishfinger sandwich which is to die for and my partner tucked into an incredible pork bap with all the trimmings! The home cut chips are also a must. It's definitely a cut above the rest but at really reasonable prices!

We also went for the Friday night evening meal which blew our minds. We already knew it was going to be great from our first trip and it really exceeded our expectations. For starter we had the smoked salmon and we had the most incredible home made pate we have ever tasted, so much better than anything we've ever had. For mains, we had pork belly with first class crackling and bouillabaisse which was a really tasty tomato fish stew. We just could'nt resist puddings and they didn't let us down.

Everything about Number Four is great, you can't fault the staff - they are knowledgable, friendly and polite which is something rare these days and the food is brilliant. You can also see the chefs cooking in the kitchen which is fab.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food - this is definitely the place to be!

Visited last Saturday and honestly can't find fault at all. Get a seat by the kitchen if you can as the chef is a joy to watch. Brilliant, just what shrewsbury needs!

This is one funky place. Which is why I've been there twice. The decor is really cool. When we arrived we were greeted by Caroline. She seemed genuinely friendly. The service was brilliant throughout. We never had to wait to ask for something, she always knew when we needed something. She didn't hesitate with suggestions as to wine and food and was really helpful.

We sat in the back where you could see the kitchen. There are cookbooks all over the place and adds to the coolness. Toby, the chef, was busy the entire time. Yet he still took time to deliver some dishes and speak to the customers. Very impressive, very friendly and really professional.

The food was outstanding. I don't say this lightly. It was outstanding. It was fresh and seasoned well. The home cut fries are incredible. I had crispy chicken with sweet chilli, cucumber and rocket wrap the first time. It was simple, but delish. Again, the fries are amazing. I've also sampled the pan fried potato gnocchi with wild mushrooms, spinach and garlic (and the fries) and the Roast tomatoes on toast with mascarpone and fennel to start. It's all so good, so consistent and so fresh.

Number four is more than a cafe. It is a bistro minus the pretentiousness that seems to be associated with the good ones. It has a great atmosphere, lovely front of house, a really good chef and fantastic food. What more can you ask for? Oh yeah, it's reasonably priced too... look toward the sky for those flying pigs.
