A good comfortable hotel, rooms small but with an excellent bed - very comfortable. The room could do with a chair - how I hate only to be able to sit on the bed. We had a room the the front of the hotel facing the railway Station. However there is a night club ( open Fridays, Saturdays and Bank Holidays) 4 doors away - very noisy between midnight and the early hours. The helpful owner said he is going to double glaze the windows. Until then ask for a room at the back or if the windows have been double glazed if staying at a weekend.

Room Tip: Is my room double glazed. Lots of choices of places to eat in Shrewsbury.

We spent two nights here for the Shrewsbury Folk Festival and couldn't have found a better location and base! The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the town centre, it's restaurants and cafes as well as interesting shops. the hotel as its name implies is right next to the station where one can park for just over £4.00 for 24 hours. The enterprising young owner made every effort to please. Breakfasts are a tasty English with some local produce. Our room was small but very clean and more than adequate for our stay. Rooms seem newly decorated and with newish en-suites. The owner had only been running the hotel for 8 months and service was excellent. The Festival site is literally 10 minutes' walk away on the same side of town. We've booked ahead for next year and so did our friend.

Room Tip: Choose a room at rear as the front is on a busy road. We were fortunate to be at the rear and had tw...

I spent one night here recently in a single room. The room was very comfortable, clean and a reasonable size. Conveniently located opposite the railway station and a only a short walk from the main shopping, river, and other tourist attractions. The bathroom was adequate although the shower curtain should be replaced with something a little more permanent (they have a habit of gathering around your feet when the shower is on). The bar and food is disappointing and I would suggest that you eat out for more choice, better quality, better value and a more pleasant environment (although modern it is dark). Reasonable value for a one night stay.

Room Tip: A room at the front is great for people watching, sunny in the morning and shaded in the afternoon.

Stayed for just one night but we were made to feel very welcome by the owner.
Room was small but had everything we needed. Nice comfy bed, plenty of storage space and a good shower.
Nice bar to come back to after a night out and a lovely cooked breakfast next morning.
Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Stayed one night here (last night) to see the Three Degrees around the corner at the Buttermarket.
Great little B&B, very pleasant and accommodating landlord who provided us with the quiet room we had requested (No. 8) and a hairdryer. It was a very warm night, but I had the good sense to bring my own fan with me which helped cool the room down a treat. Very nicely situated just opposite the train station and within 5 mins walk of the centre of town (and a very nice town centre it is).
Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Most rooms will overlook a fairly busy road, so if you are bothered by road noise, ask for room numb...

I chose this hotel because it is near the station, right opposite in fact, and it is perfect.

Unpretentious both outside and in yet clean, comfortable, well appointed, friendly, well situated and inexpensive. Thoroughly recommended.

I was a bit worried that the noise of the traffic would disturb my sleep, since it is by a busy road junction. Even though my room wasn't double glazed, in fact the traffic stopped late evening and I slept really well.

Arrived in time for lunch, hotel is run and owned by an extremely friendly man called Stelios. Stayed two nights, in order to break my journey to and from Cardiff from Durham. Very welcoming, food excellent, wine pretty good. Not a real ale house, but drank cider at lunch time and wine in the evening. Loved the wine, and the food. I recommend the full English breakfast.
I have stayed in lots of hotels during the last 50 years, which range from the good to the awful, depending on who was paying! This one is small, which I think is an asset in a hotel, if you want homogenous vastness at great expense try the M*rr**t. Small hotels are either lovely or awful, this was lovely. clean, well furnished, and the rooms well serviced. And the television works! Stelios goes out of his way to help his guests, shows you to your room, and as soon as he discovered I was bringing my case downstairs he was bounding upstairs to take it from me. (OK, I'm just the wrong side of 70!). He obviously sees his guests as guests, and not just as a commodity.
I have a particular interest in Wilfred Owen- most vistors seem to want Darwin or Cadfael- and he gave me the address where Owen's blue plaque is, and the school where he taught about 1910.
Some reviewers have mentioned the noise. OK, but the address Station Hotel might have given them some sort of a clue!

Room Tip: Someone said ask for a middle room. I might try that next time. I had a room at the back, which was...
