We went as a group of four couples and reserved rooms on the top floor. Whilst one of the rooms ended up over the bus station this had no effect on the stay other than the fact that it was not a great view. The rooms were so quiet, clean and comfortable you had to pinch yourself for the price you had paid. Great location to walk into the town centre, over the footbridge to the theatre or along the river. Well done Premier Inn again!

Stayed for 4 nights, Sunday to Wednesday, so experienced a quiet evening and the weekday activity.
Echoing the comments of previous contributors:-

Positives:-

New hotel, so everything fresh and clean. Air Con efficient in very hot weather
Excellent bedroom and bathroom facilities (Room 402 particularly spacious because of the design of the building – works the same we were told for 202 and 302)
In-house restaurant also had plenty of room with separate bar area
Hotel and Restaurant staff universally helpful and cheerful, even under pressure. Special mention for Tracy at Breakfast Mon-Wed who went out of her way to ensure guests had a good experience.

Negatives:-

The on-site car park – not sufficient spaces and what there were are far too small for anything other than a “Mini”. £8 for 24 hours is reasonable for a city centre hotel, but unusual for a Premier Inn to charge this much.

Hand Towels – company policy is now to supply only one per room –even if there are 4 guests staying in the same room! Reception provides extra towels on request – but an unnecessary niggle.

Machine v Personal check-in. One can understand the economics for Premier Inn of relying more on automated check-ins, especially in their newer properties, but since one of the features of the chain that reviewers comment on most frequently is the warmth of the reception they receive from staff, it seems odd to rely more on machines. Incidentally, one of the two automated check in machines was not working when we arrived and remained so four days later.

The use of machines with an “Assistance” call button gives the humans who are at Reception an excuse to slip away for a cigarette break in the car park and wait for their pagers to summon them back.

Room Tip: Top floor Room 402 quiet and spacious with river facing view

The hotel was very new and the staff pleasant. There is an £8 carpark fee for 24 hours which I think is very reasonable. I was very annoyed to find out that there is a £1.50 charge for using Credit or Debit Cards!! If I had known I would have brought cash. And there's no way of using bank notes.
Aaargh!!
I understand that the car park isn't owned by Premier Inn but they have awarded the franchise to LCP so, ultimately, bear responsibility. I think P.I. also charge £2 for using Credit Cards which is extortionate.

My room was perfect. It had everything I could possibly need, and was spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean (as was the whole hotel)
The breakfasts were great with good quality ingredients and masses of choice.
The restaurant and bar area is pleasant and comfortable, with outside seating on the terrace.
Many thanks to Sally, Mark, James and Gary for looking after us so well. All the staff were brilliant though, customer service is second to none.
All in all Premier Inn Shrewsbury is a great hotel - but their biggest asset is their wonderful staff.

Last Thursday My friend and I stayed at the Premier. I can/t tell you how much we appreciated the kindness, thoughtfulness and pleasantness of ALL the staff. The hotel was spotless and most comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful... we decided to "downgrade" from a cooked to a continental breakfast as there was so much choice!
The whole ambience was quiet and calm; we did not hear any traffic noise at all.
Well done everyone and thank you for making our trip really great.

Room, fine, great cleanliness and presentation .Check in average.decor very good.
Breakfast at 0800 ,mostly cold, congealed or fatty/ over cooked .Toaster too high setting burnt the bread.
Tried to leave at 0900 for another appointment, whole of rear exit road totally blocked by TWO huge lorries, one a Laundry vehicle with piles of dirty laundry on the Tarmac awaiting loading and the other a Beer/wine delivery wagon with beer kegs and wine cases all over the roadway and disabled car parking spaces, blocking my car totally in. Told to return to foyer and wait,0915 no progress, asked for update, still no go beer kegs and wine cases in car parking lots can not be moved by hotel staff-H and S issue, waited again . 0926 get to car whilst delivery men load delivery on to trucks to wheel into hotel. Left 30 mins later for next appointment.Have written formal complaint to Premier HQ via WS complaints page,no reply after 28 hrs.
Not good for a regular Premier Inn customer and a disabled driver.
Very poor / Nil directions to rear of Inn for disabled driver despite me booking a space no advise given as to how access is gained from main road to circuitous route round the buildings to rear of Inn and to Blue Badge Holder spaces.

This is a new Premier Inn. The layout is excellent with a very comfortable restaurant and bar area. Although on a busy road, there was no outside noise. The rooms are a good size with all the facilities you could need for a short break. Hotel very secure. Our group was a mixed age ranging from 22 to 62. Excellent choice for a short break visiting friends.
