Description: “The sun is always rising somewhere in the world” A team of chefs who have drawn their inspiration from their travels and memories serve up their recollection of global street food and sharing dishes. We bring these creations back to our home and recreate them here for you – hoping to take you on a journey of flavour and excitement. Our food is essentially served in what you may refer to as ‘tapas’- choose about 3 dishes each and we will send them to the table as and when each of them is ready. We would recommend you choose 1 dish from each the ‘LAND’, ‘EARTH’ and ‘SEA’ – It’s all about sharing and having a little taste of everything in a social environment with your friends or family.

I spent my 21st birthday here with a close friend. The service was second to none, at no point in the evening was my champagne or water glass empty and when there was a ten minute wait on our deserts (not a wait at all in my opinion as in some places I have waited up to an hour between courses) the manager came over to apologise.

I have eaten in east/west restaurants before and like the laid back approach to how meals are served- as and when the dishes are cooked instead of being served all at once, so there was a constant stream of dishes coming to the table throughout our meal which we shared.

The food was to die for, I have eaten in many restaurants and never had a better Scallop dish then I did here! The atmosphere was relaxed despite the restaurant being very busy with a beautiful, modern interior. Considering we had a number of dishes and sides, as well as a bottle of Prosecco, I really was expecting the bill to be a lot more than it was, so I cant really complain about the prices either.

I really can't fault the place. Definitely worth a visit.

Having heard so much hype we were really looking forward to sampling shrewsburys newest restaurant. The decor and ambience were fantastic, the place really does look good without being too prentious! However we must be honest and we left slightly disappointed.

The good..
1. Friendly staff
2. Unique menu offering unlike any other shrewsbury restaurant
3. Amazing hand cut chips and edamame beans.
4. Scollops were cooked beautifully and tasted divine.
5. Complimentary bottle of wine given for the reasons below.

The bad..
1. Our food order was wrong when delivered. Had to prompt the waiter, twice, to get the rest of the sushi.
2. Service was slow. (Mon night)
3. When our food came, it was not delivered together. Long gaps between each dish.
4. The chicken skewers were cold (they did take it back and a new one brought out)
5. Small portions.
6. The sushi was a bit too ricey with not enough filling.
7. The belly pork was burnt on the bottom and inedible.
8. Over priced for the food and not competitive with other restaurants with similar standard and quality of food.

We understand that the head chef was not working on this evening, which was a shame and maybe a reason why we had so many issues with the food and service. These could be easily rectified and with it being within the 1st few weeks of opening were sure these are just teething problems.
The House of the Rising Sun is a great concept which has clearly been inspired by other restaurants which have already proven to be successful in other cities. And were hoping that in time THORS will impress us and will be our restaurant of choice.
