The cottage was ideal for our party of six, rather than the five mentioned as a maximum, as the youngest member was only eight months old. The accommodation is exactly as described, was spotlessly clean and far more spacious than the narrow frontage might suggest.
Our daughter and son in law used the suite of rooms which very usefully also included a recess which was ideal for the provided travel cot and our grandson had the single room. My wife and I used the double bedroom opposite the suite and the main bathroom on the ground floor. This worked absolutely fine.
The walk either to the local Spar is under five minutes (even walking with a three year old) and the shop has a very useful variety of all the staples one might require. Shrewsbury is a pleasant quarter of an hour walk along the Severn and there really are so many things to see and do that, like others before us, we parked both cars on arrival and didn't use them for the entire five day stay. A word on parking - it was very busy when we arrived around 2.30 but eased off considerably around 4pm - the Severn Weir is just around the corner and it is likely that visitors to this attraction used the residential spaces on a fine sunny afternoon. There are spaces to park but initially these could be a minute or so's walk away.
The environment of the cottage is very peaceful, the central heating and hot water systems work well, and there is a good fridge freezer.
Rhian made sure that we were fully informed as to how everything worked, the local attractions and directions and was easy to contact in the event of a query.
This really was a most enjoyable break with the family and can be confidently recommended.
Very comfortable house, nicely furnished and cosy. Really good location in a friendly neighbourhood. Just around the corner there's a riverside walk into Shrewsbury town centre which is an easy stroll. The railway station is also within easy walking distance. Rhian is a very helpful and supportive host who was easy to contact via text. We had three really lovely nights at No 53.
This house is a little gem. Situated in a quiet residential street close to the towpath, it’s very convenient for walking into Shrewsbury, or for a stroll by the river.
The house is actually far more spacious than it looks from the road, with three bedrooms, and a bathroom upstairs and down. There’s a peaceful garden at the back, which we found very relaxing to sit in. Inside it’s well equipped and comfortably furnished: the owner really has thought of everything you might need. Although there’s no allocated parking we didn’t have any problem finding a space on the road. The neighbours were friendly too, offering help if we had any questions. I would recommend it for couple or families.
No 53 was on a quiet street close to the river walk into town. Shrewsbury has plenty to offer in terms of visitor attractions, eating places and independent shops. Also lots of stately homes and gardens within a short drive away. A lovely town apart from quite a lot of down and outs which was a bit off putting (although regrettably many towns have this problem).
Cottage was comfy, well decorated and had everything we wanted. Would certainly return to both Shrewsbury and no. 53.
A very clean, comfortable and well equipped house. Ideal location to explore Shrewsbury on foot. An easy walk from the station and an enjoyable stroll along the river into town. Rhian was very pleasant and helpful adding a caring and personal touch. Would definitely recommend this rental and would not hesitate to book it again.
No 53 had everything we needed for a short break in Shrewsbury. It was spacious but cosy and having two bathrooms was an added bonus. It's was the perfect location for walking into town along the river.
