“Excellent stay at Beckford House”

You could not get better, a beautiful house, a lovely warm greeting when you arrive and the location to the shops is a 10 minute walk away. The room was comfortable and spacious and Anthony (the owner) was a true gent with a sense of humor. We came by car and left it in the drive. Spent two days walking around bath however the train station is right on the the door step which might be an option if we were to return. Staying at Beckford house was a great experience and would definately recommend it! The Reads

A truly beautiful B&B very close to the town centre, we stayed for two nights over our daughter's graduation. Beautifully furnished and filled with wonderful original works of art, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast cooked by Anthony from local produce was truly delicious. Very hospitable and entertaining hosts. Can't recommend highly enough.

From our initial contact with Anthony several months ago, right through to when we left, Anthony has been warm, friendly, very helpful and thoughtful. The B&B itself is beautiful, with the period features retained, thank goodness, tasteful, with an eclectic collection of artworks, furniture etc. We loved it, didn't want to leave! The bedrooms are again, very tastefully furnished/decorated and equally important, comfortable. Lots of attention to detail, even a pair of binoculars in each room so you can enjoy the view even more! Anthony cooks a delicious hearty breakfast - and a perfect poached egg! We will certainly be back! If you are browsing the internet for somewhere to stay - it would be a mistake to miss out on staying here!

Room Tip: Both rooms are lovely, one has a four poster bed, the other has a beautifully ornate marble fireplac...

I've just returned from our second visit to Beckford House. Anthony greeted us at the door with a warm smile and a hug when we arrived.

This visit was no different from our first, we had a wonderful room to stay in - the B&B is on a bit of a hill, and the rooms overlook the town. The rooms all come with big, comfortable beds, and very pretty ambiance. I really enjoy how the rooms have a warm and inviting feeling, and have a fairly "original" feel to them with high ceilings and lovely art on the walls. Bathroom wise, they are clean, warm, there is lots of hot water and fluffy towels.

The rooms also come with their fair share of books. Anthony is happy to have them read during your stay. This time I borrowed one for the day and took it with me around town - something Anthony highly approved of. "Taking a book?" he asked, "That's what they are there for. Enjoy."

All of this is nothing in comparison to the welcome that Anthony brings to the B&B. I love going to a place where I feel welcomed as an old friend. We enjoyed sitting and having an extra cup of tea over breakfast with Anthony and just talking about our travels and making one another laugh. Joie de Vivre is not something that can be taught. Anthony has it in buckets.

He also makes wonderful breakfasts! Be sure to leave some extra time in order for him to cook up a proper British breakfast - fresh make eggs, mushrooms, bacon, tomato, toast, as well as the most amazing selections of jams and jellies all get set out on the table to accompany your choice of Coffee or tea after a first course of yogurt and fruit... Really, Anthony's breakfasts are enough to keep you going all day.

Anthony, Thank you for another great visit. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Room Tip: Both rooms are equally wonderful - I've stayed in them both. Room 2 has a larger window, if that...

We arrived earlier than expected and was greeted to Anthony who made us feel very welcome. The room was very clean and bed was so comfy had trouble getting out in the morning! Breakfast was very delicious cooked by the Anthony he couldn't do enough for you. Advised us on eating places nearby and where to get discount on bill.

Overall we would without hesitation recommend this lovely B&B and only 15 minute walk to town centre though there is a bus stop just across the road. We just came back from a lovely weekend stay visiting the Xmas markets which was magical, we even climbed the Cathedral and was greeted with a free mulled wine at the top. If you book the Beckord House B&B I can guarantee you will not be disappointed and like us we are looking forward to staying again with Anthony

The B& B is a little out of the town centre (15 minute walk) but it is located on a hill from which there is supposedly a view of Bath on a clear day (we had bad weather). The room we stayed in was exquisitely and tastefully furnished, very spacious, with a four poster bed. A self-serve continental breakfast was provided and the host, Anthony, cooked up a generous and delicious breakfast. Limited off-street parking is available. After we checked out, Anthony also let us leave our car there for a few hours while we walked into town to explore the sights.

A truly great and relaxing time at Beckford House. Anthony was a great host and very accommodating. The fry up in the morning was incredible and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Great value for money compared to the rest of bath and the actual home is situated in a very nice part of the town, a nice 15min walk into town. The home itself is old school but very charismatic. We would definitely return here and recommend it to our family and friends!

Room Tip: If you not set on staying in hotels I would always go for a B&B, they are generally always bette...
