“Tiny restuarant. Massive welcome.”
Reviewed 2 February 2011

This small indian curry house on Moorland road is a local treasure. When I first moved to Bath I overlooked it, but it is now my takeaway of choice.

I have only eaten inside the restuarant once and it is the maddest, tiniest place you could ever be in. You are treated like everyone's best friend (lots of handshakes, backpatting, 'sir and madam'). It's noisy, bustling and provides little room for manoevre!

We came to eat here with friends (we both had small kids in pushchairs-should have known better). No childseats-as you would expect and very little room for the folded pushchairs (they had to store them in the corridor and waiters were tripping over them carry food-not good!). The positive aspect of this is that they went out of their way to facilitate us-all friendly and smiling-even entertaining the kids!

The curries are good value and they have proper onion bhajis (stringy deep fried balls loaded with flavour). I wouldn't necessarily recommend to eat here (unless you like that type of atmos) but you are treated in equal stature when ordering takeaway. Which is a delightful experience and makes you leave with a smile on your face.

The gentlemen who run Panahar are completely charming and beyond helpful. The food is very authentic and so deserving of attention.

“Best Indian ever”
Reviewed 27 October 2009

OK I have lived in Bath a while, but have travelled a lot and tried Indian restaurants around the world. The service and food at this place is the best. Plus the bill is always much LESS than you could imagine.

The excellent staff remember you when you return and offer you free side dishes! The food always tastes fresh and cooked to perfection. I wish I was eating there tonight!

“Great Indian food and service in Bath”
Reviewed 11 April 2009

Panahar was recommended to us by our hosts, Heather and Steve, of Badminton Villa in Bath. They made the reservations for us, which may have been why we were treated so well. The staff went out of their way to give us a good eating experience. They gave us their "best" table and were very friendly and courteous. The restaurant is small and cozy. There was a line of people picking up takeout food, always a good sign. The restaurant was full when we were there. The food was great, very tasty, and the owner/manager helped us to decide what dishes to try. You can bring in your own alcohol because it is off license, and there was a package store right across the street. Overall, very good food and a wonderful atmosphere!
