“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2011

We booked this guest house for my hen party, and it fitted the bill perfectly. The rooms were spotlessly clean and nicely decorated, a little on the small side maybe, but that's old buildings for you. The owners were really lovely - very helpful and friendly, they let us use their breakfast room for a picnic when the rain ruined our plans. The food was really really good, especailly the cooked breakfast on the sunday, but even the continental was varied and delicious. We had some problems contacting them before the stay, but nothing that wasn't worked out. There was some noise from outside (clubs and revellers in the early hours) in the front rooms, but that's to be expected from its loaction. It's only a few minutes walk from the train station and city centre. We really enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely book again/reccomend it for those looking for a clean, bright, friendly accomodating place right in the heart of it all. Take ear plugs with you and have fun!

I took my daughter to UK for her graduation trip and stayed at Anabelle's while we were in Bath. It was absolutely perfect. The Manageress welcomed us at the door, explained routines and showed us our room. When we explained we would miss breakfast because of an early tour, she immediately offered to make us a breakfast/lunch that we could take with us the next day. That was very kind and above what we expected. We stayed here for 3 nights. The breakfasts on the mornings we did go were very tasty. Eggs, sausages, toast, coffee/tea, juices, cheeses, and biscuits were available. There was plenty to choose from.
Our room was a twin with a shared bathroom on the 2nd floor. The bathroom was always available and always clean. Tea and coffee were available in our room and much appreciated. We had a lovely view, facing the street. The pub next door did get noisy on Saturday night, but did not interrupt our sleep. Anabelle's is steps away from the train station and an internet cafe. The manageress also offered to keep our bags after checkout if we wanted to walk around town longer. Anabelle's is also very close to town, less than a 10 min walk. There are numerous restaurants and stores to choose from. The Huntsman Inn and Bath Tea Rooms are two places we recommend to eat at. The Roman Baths and the Abbey are within easy walking distance. The Jane Austen Centre, the Circus, and the royal crescent are all within 20 min walking. We strongly recommend having Tea, scones and cucumber sandwiches at the Jane Austen Centre. It was really amazingly great.
Bizarre Bath is a nightly comedy walking act that starts at 8pm. It is definitely worth it.

I stayed for 3 nights during the end of May Bank hol weekend with a friend over from South Africa and we were more than delighted with the guest house. Natasha the Manager was charming and helpful, the twin bedded room with bathroom was clean, bright with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. This guest house is in an excellent position being 5 mins walk from the station but also central for seeing the whole of Bath, just minutes from shops, Roman Baths, Abbey and more. The continental breakfast had lots of choice with full English served on the Sunday but also a good variety of breads, cereals, croissants, yogurts, jams, fresh fruit and even scones and muffins! If I have any criticism it is that the walls are rather thin so noise travels and some of the noise from nearby bars/clubs is a bit loud late at night. Unfortunately we had to change rooms for our 3rd night and share a bathroom, but we had known of this in advance. I'm definitely coming back with my husband next time!

Room Tip: Book a room with ensuite, not all have this.

Anabelle's is located just up the street from the train station and just one block away from the main sights in Bath. It is lovely little spot. Our room was over the street, so it was a bit noisy, but the shared bathroom was always free even though the inn was fully booked. The breakfast was amazing! There was everything you could ask for (she describes it as a continental, but there were eggs and fresh rolls and meat and cheese, and cereal and yogurt) Yum! This is a great place to base yourself out of for your travels in Bath.

Only stayed here for one night but was very impressed with the place. The ladies running the place were very friendly and helpful without being over bearing. The location is great. Parking in Bath is a pain in general, but the b&b is close to a decent sized car park that has got to be pretty safe considering its right next to the police station. Parking in Bath is expensive ( so please don't be surprised if you do go!). Its a very central B&B and you are only a few minutes from the Abbey and the River. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. And having had the supposed 'noisy' room on the ground floor i have to say i never heard any noise at all from the bar next door and slept wonderfully. The only complaint about my own room would be the lack of a mirror at my eye level as i'm only 5ft tall and the mirror in the bedroom part of my room was much too high for me. But seriously if that is my only complaint the place is good! The hotel's parting gift was breakfast. I have never been so full after a continental breakfast! Even my dad (who is partial to a full english himself) was very impressed by the quantity and quality of the food. And again.. the staff could not have been more helpful! I honestly think this place deserves your custom. Yes it ain't 5 star... but for the money, location and quality its really worth a visit.

Trying to book a hotel in Bath for the Easter weekend is a nightmare. There is such high demand that local hotel owners can impose stupid conditions such as "only-three-nights" or "no-arrivals-on-Saturdays" policies. Annabelle's was completely different. It was very easy to book the rooms for the number of nights we wanted, and for a very reasonable price (72.5 pounds per night per room for a double en-suite) compared to other guest houses in Bath at the peak of the season.

The rooms were comfortable and cosy, the bathroom was modern and super clean. One of the rooms, number 1 on the ground floor, was noisy on Saturday night, but we had been warned before booking, and had accepted a 5 pound discount for the inconvenience. The other room had no noise problem at all.

The breakfast in the morning was an all you can eat buffet with good and simple ingredients (orange juice is from concentrate and coffee is not great though, you would expect better from Italians!). But only on Sunday morning was there a full English breakfast buffet (with bacon and sausages), which was really worth it.

The owners are lovely and helpful people. Natacha speaks English, French and Italian. She did make a mistake with our reservation, but quickly recognized she was wrong, apologized profusely and gave us the rooms we had booked. She also gave us tickets to the American museum in Bath to apologize.

All in all, difficult to find a better value guest house. If you want high luxury, there are plenty of other places in Bath, but be ready to pay four times the price, for probably surly service and not much more. Location was absolutely ideal, close to the station but not too much, and near all the main sights in Bath.

Room Tip: The full English breakfast on Sundays is good

I stayed at Annabelles as part of a hen weekend, the guest house was chosen for its reasonable rates and convenient location. The location is ideal, close to the train station and the centre of Bath and attractions. We had a variety of rooms, some doubles and twins and some en-suite, some not. It was an ideal "base" for us, it was spotlessly clean, and the manageress was extremely helpful and kind, but not obtrusive.
Although the decor is slightly dated, and is buy no means a "luxury" hotel, it perfectly met our needs. The manageress was also more than happy for me to decorate the hens room with balloons & banners and for us to drink in the rooms whilst waiting for others to arrive.
My room faced the front, and as the weather was quite warm, slept with the window open and I was not bothered by the music from the pub/club next door. Although it is audible, it was not loud enough to disturb our sleep. And the beds were very comfy!
I would reccomend Annabelles to those who are travelling to bath and do not went to pay the hiked up prices of other hotels.
