great staff, good quality food and reasonably priced drinks in the bar.

My parther and I recently came back from our second visit to the Halcyon Hotel in Bath. Having had a wonderful experience during our original stay we were over the moon to find not only the same welcoming and attentive staff but some fantasic additions to the hotel.
The new hotel bar Circo was both relaxing and stylish and the head barman mixed up some new and delightful cocktails, the cooked breakfast lived up to all expectations and the beds resulted in one of my best nights sleep for months.
I can't recommend the Halcyon enough and thank Hector (the hotel manager) and the team for making the stay so special.

My wife and I flew half-way around the world for a weekend wedding in Bath and The Halycon was the perfect venue for our needs. We were welcomed by the delightfully charming hotel manager, Hector, who was always on hand to look after our every need and provide valuable insights/recommendations. Our room was very tastefully decorated, comfortable and chic and the atmosphere in the hotel, like the weather over the weekend, was warm, bright and friendly. Don't miss the sophisticated basement bar, Circo, which we discovered, as an added bonus, was the best cocktail bar in Bath.
The location, a minute's walk from Bath Spa train station, worked perfectly for our journey back up to London after the weekend.

We'll be back soon...very soon.

Stayed over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The rooms are smallish, but well appointed and tastefully decorated. I believe the price reflects this, so I'm not sure why other guests appear to be surprised by a smaller room. Big isn't always best.

The staff are fantastic, the breakfast room bar downstars is atmospheric and cosy with a great breakfast selection and good fun at night.

Great location and well worth staying for a short break. Occupies a niche between the larger more expensive hotels and the smaller grottier ones, so I think the overall mix is great value for money and stylish.

Room Tip: Go for 2.1

Although our room wasn't that big it was modern, excellent bedding, great bathroom and comfortable. The area is relatively busy around it but our room was still quiet. Handy to city centre and within easy walking distance to all the great sights of beautiful Bath. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of car parking nearby - use the car parks as the parking wardens are extra vigilant! No problem recommending and we will be back for a longer stay next time.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Halcyon having selected this hotel on the basis of good reviews and location. My husband has limited mobility so accessibility is always a major concern. The location was excellent and our welcome from Hector was warm and friendly. However, our room was a major disappointment. There is no lift in this Georgian conversion and we booked a studio (area with bed plus adjacent 'kitchenette') because that was the only type of room on the ground floor. The bed took up most of the space in the bedroom area and was so close to the built-in wardrobe that the doors couldn't be opened. A hanging rail had been erected on the other side of the room. The space between the corner of the bed and the wall on one side was 14 inches. Squeezing past meant hitting the bed or the plasma screen on the wall above it. The w.c. in the bathroom was jammed up against the wall on one side. The kitchenette provided a kettle, microwave and a toaster (I had to stand on a chair to reach the microwave and the toaster was further out of reach.) We made use of the kettle - didn't need a kitchenette for that. The complimentary 'tea and coffee' was minus coffee so we had to buy our own. The studio was described as a possible batchelor pad and undoubtedly it was more suited to single occupancy. At £145 including VAT it didn't measure up to other hotel rooms in which we have stayed.

Room Tip: Avoid a studio unless you need cooking facilities
