We have Hilton Hhonours membership and looked to stay at the Hilton in Bath, but found it expensive. Our daughter recommended The Halcyon and we were pleased that she did.
Given that we are used to staying in a Hiltonl the experience at The Halcyon was certainly different, but very pleasantly so.
The location of the Hotel was spot on for a first tourist visit to Bath and the staff were very friendly, especially Hector who gets full marks for also being so helpful and knowledgeable.
Breakfast was very good notwithstanding the lack of a cooked option.
The room was small compared to a Hilton, but was clean and comfortable.
I understand from other reviewers that some rooms can be noisy, so best to discuss this with reception before you book.
You should note that the Hotel has no onsite parking, but this should not put you off as there is parking, at a price, available below ground at a shopping centre nearby.
Subject to the above, I can thoroughly recommend this Hotel for a few nights on a first visit to Bath.
Finally, though nothing to do with the hotel, I would mention that Bath is not car friendly. We approached Bath by car from the (north) east and spent a great deal of time (fruitlessly) trying to reach the hotel through the centre of the city. Time after time we were met with one way systems and time controlled road closures turning us back the way we came. In the event we telephoned the hotel from the car and Hector kindly directed us in real time straight to the door of the hotel.
My advice therefore is to travel by train, if possible, as the hotel is just a short distance from the railway station.
