“Lovely Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2014

Me and my partner booked a standard room for 2 nights, Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd February. Whilst we really liked the hotel, with its decor, staff, bar and location, the room we were allocated was quite pokey and small which i don't think was value for money at £119 per night. Whilst we didn't complain about the size of the room, the main point we would make is the constant droning of the kitchen extractor system right outside our room window. Our room number was on the first floor 1.3, so if your a light sleeper (as i am) i would ask for an alternative room. Although the extractor sound isn't overly loud in the day, it is noticeable during the night and did take me longer to drift off to sleep.
Apart from that, i would definitely like to stay there again provided we booked a bigger room and that it wouldn't be near the extractor system...! Staff were very nice and couldn't do enough for you, as were the bar staff.

Room Tip: Ask to be in a room away from Extractor / Air conditioning systems to ensure good nights sleep. Choo...

We opted to stay at the Halcyon due to its convenience to the centre of Bath. It more than met our expectations including a cracking cocktail bar in the basement. Highly recommend this Hotel. Lovely breakfast

The hotel is perfectly located 5 minutes walk from the station and 5 mins from the abbey and city centre. We were there to celebrate a birthday with friends and had a wonderful break. The rooms all be it a little "cosy" were clean and comfortable and the bathrooms were lovely with good powerful showers. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful they were delightful at all times in the hotel at checkin, breakfast and in the bar.

I visited the halcyon with my partner on 1/2/14, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the building beautiful. I just wish the room would have lived up to the expectations! It was uncomfortably hot, noisy (not just other guests but a tap somewhere dripping) and had a large stain on the carpet. On the plus side continental breakfast was great with lots of choice. If I go back to Bath I very much doubt I will return I just didn't feel the hotel was value for money.

We were served by the lovely Emily who couldn't have been more helpful. The room was excellent value and had a beautiful view over historical Bath. A great night with a delicious breakfast included. We would certainly stay there again and it was great to be given such personable service.

This is a very central small hotel which unusually for Bath takes single night booking at the weekend. Our first floor room was cosy or to put it another way, tiny. The dividing walls to the next room have no sound insulation at all so they may as well have joined us. The biggest downside however is the fact that the basement turns into a bar/club at night and the music goes on until late which does not make for a relaxing stay. The staff are friendly and attentive and there was an impressive full English breakfast on Sunday .

Room Tip: Try for an upper floor to get away from the noise of the basement bar

Great position and great staff. The young lady (Malika?) on reception was brilliant. Our rooms were on the small side but still very comfortable. We only had breakfast here but that was excellent. The club underneath the hotel was great fun and made our long weekend VERY enjoyable.Reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Room 2.5 is small but very quiet at the back of the hotel.
