“Good but needs cooling and better wifi”

This is a beautiful hotel with excellent reception service, but I'm not sure that I would recommed it. On the positive side, the reception service was cheery and helpful; we had no problem parking in the parking lot opposite (Sunday afternoon and it is free between 8pm -8am) and the location is central and minutes from the Roman baths and resturants and not too busy or noisy. The room itself was small but tastefully decorated and a modern bathroom. On the negative side the wifi was pathetic - the only place you could connect was in reception; the breakfast was a small buffet with continental breakfast only and one girl providing coffee; the exhaust fan in the bathroom came on with the light but took at least 30 minutes afterwards to turn off (very noisy in the middle of the night) and worst was that there was no air-conditioning . The temperature was only low 20s and yet the room was stuffy and very hot. Other listed buildings all around Britain have aircon and yet being a listed building was a reason we were given that there is no aircon there. This made our sleep very uncomfortable.

We have just got back from a weekend staying at the Halcyon for our wedding anniversary. We couldn't have stayed in a better hotel, the location was perfect, the breakfast really great but best of all was the cocktail bar! The staff were really helpful and friendly especially Gareth who went out of his way to recommend places for us to eat and advise us on the best cocktails, we ended up spending saturday afternoon and early ending there before ending up there after our dinner for a great Latin night - really funky bar/club. Perfect weekend away!

The Halcyon cannot be faulted for its location, smack bang in the centre of Bath. The breakfast was a good continental breakfast, I particularly liked the coffee. However our room was a cupboard, a well dressed cupboard but a cupboard all the same. The bathroom was particularly small, you needed the door open to dry yourself off or clean your teeth or anything in front of the sink. I don't know what the other rooms are like but I'd not recommend ours if you like to spend time in the bathroom or glam up for a night out. Otherwise a good hotel.

Whilst staying at the halcyon I was impressed with the service and attentiveness of Gareth. Who went out of his way to create and tailor cocktails for us. Fabulous night. We only popped in for a quick drink and ended up staying for several.

Clean, charming hotel with an unbeatable location if you are travelling by train. You can walk there in under 5 minutes from the train station and it is just around the corner from the major sites such as the abbey, Roman baths, and the Thermae spa.

This is not a bad hotel. The location is great and the staff are super friendly. My rating is more in relation to the £150 per night we paid. The room we had was tiny, and normally I don't mind small hotel rooms at all, but here I had to maneuver just to pass the bathroom door, which by the way wouldn't close. The choice of breakfast was also below average and sadly the extremely friendly staff at breakfast couldn't make up for it. If you get a decent rate, then this hotel is a fine choice.

Had the opportunity to stay at this property recently and the location is great! it is right in the heart of Bath, easy walk to nearby attractions. The breakfast was lovely, the staff great in terms of friendliness and check in. The room itself, although small, was comfortable and quiet. Would recommend this hotel to others!

Room Tip: We were on the top floor which was quiet - a bit small but a good room
