We returned to the Queensberry after a couple of years & again found it a nice place to stay. Good spacious room, comfortable bed & friendly staff all made our short stay very pleasant. We like the afternoon tea in the lounge and especially the choice of teas offered. A nice menu of cooked breakfasts or the cold buffet and again good leaf tea served in a teapot. I’m sure we’ll stay again. It’s about a half hour walk from the railway station through the shopping street & it’s uphill so I recommend a taxi. There are bonuses if you book direct.

Our 2nd visit to The Queensbury! Fantastic location, valet parking a real bonus. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Superb breakfast in The Olive Tree. Looking forward to returning again! We stayed in Rooms 19 & 24 once again. Room 19 considering a front location was nice and quiet - have had some bad experience at other hotels in bath with noise.

Room Tip: Our 2nd stay in Rooms 19 & 24. My only niggle is the cracked floor tile in the bathroom was like...

As before, this boutique hotel is excellently situated for everything. The rooms are delightful, the staff are very friendly and incredibly accommodating. The breakfast is superb and the food in The Olive restaurant was very good too! They offer complimentary tea and coffee in the lounge area 24 hrs a day so not a problem that there isn't drink making facilities in the room. One can always fetch morning tea in the white towelling dressing gown provided in the room if you're brave enough!! The facilities in the room are excellent and our bathroom this time was the size of our kitchen at home, huge!! We will be back and won't even think of looking elsewhere - straight to the Queensberry. Thank you to all the staff who made our trip so enjoyable.

Lovely quirky boutique hotel - lots of stairs which made it interesting. Loved the lounge areas, bar and garden. Staff couldn't do enough for us. had a room at the back - lovely and quiet, spotlessly clean and really comfortable bed. Only stayed two nights but wish we had stayed longer. What a brilliant location too, so easy to walk to all the sights, restaurants etc. Thanks also for whisking our car away for the duration. As mentioned, no tea making in room but free bottled water. We were very impressed and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Bath. Thank you to all the staff.

We stayed at The Queensbury this week and I was really impressed with the hotel. The room was lovely and relaxing (I was not expecting a sofa area etc so this was a pleasant surprise) and the bed was very comfortable. It is a great location and the car service (at a reasonable price) was very handy - something we have not experienced whilst staying in other hotels in Bath. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Every staff member was very warm in their approach and this made it very relaxing during our stay. We will definietly stay here again when we return to Bath.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 17. Please note, close the closet so you don't hear the lift!

This hotel is a gem. The room we had was gorgeous, being a good size, with a large comfortable bed and a bathroom which was lovely. The cleanliness in the room was A1, and having bottled water and a good size tv in the room was nice. Free shoe cleaning is a nice touch and the valet parking proved invaluable during our stay. It was a shame that there is no wifi in the rooms, but I understand that this is due to be sorted soon, so no problem there.
We did feel that the breakfast could have been better - the buffet would have been improved with a greater selection, especially better fruit - what about some strawberries, melon etc, rather than a fruit bowl and dried fruit? The cooked breakfast portions though good quality were mean in size. Americans who are used to big portions will be very disappointed.
However, the one real disappointment for us is the lack of tea and coffee in the rooms, Yes, there is some during the day in the communal lounge downstairs. But that is not "everyones cup of tea". If you want a hot drink after 5.30pm your only option is room service at £4.25 a drink. So, if you want a evening drink, an early morning drink, you will have an expensive time. This seems cheeky considering the price of the rooms is not cheap. This has been mentioned time and time again in previous reviews and the hotel seems unwilling to address it; this really is at odds with everything else about the hotel, as staff and management seem so keen to please in every other way.

Room Tip: Though room 30 is a bit of a trek, it is very quiet and away from it all.

Lauren M, General Manager at Queensberry Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 30 October 2013

Dear Sam 2551

I am delighted that you enjoyed your recent visit to The Queensberry.

I am keen to address the point that you and other reviewers raise regarding the provision of tea and coffee facilities in the bedrooms. Rather than being at odds with the overall ethos of The Queensberry, the decision not to place hospitality trays in bedrooms is a considered decision coming from our commitment to quality.

Given our location within four beautiful Georgian terraced buildings, The Queensberry is a very unique and characterful hotel. It is clear that our guests appreciate the effort that we took in the individual design of every room in the hotel. However the difficulty of working within the various rooms to make sure that we show these beautiful Georgian townhouses in their true grandeur meant that it was not possible to fit every room with the standard cabinet furniture that would be suitable to house tea and coffee facilities. Providing a kettle in a room that you have to fill from a bath tap and then plug in on the floor seems to us to be wrong and is not in keeping with The Queensberry service. Additionally, in our opinion, tea and coffee from instant sachets and cartons of UHT milk does not provide a quality experience or an exceptional cup of tea or coffee.

Instead we offer very carefully selected, highest quality tea from the artisan tea specialists Teapigs (there is a variety of 7 varieties of tea to choose from) and freshly brewed coffee, at no charge, in the drawing room throughout the day that guests can help themselves to, and take to their rooms if they wish. This complimentary service is now available from 8am – 8pm. Alternatively, for a modest charge, fresh tea and coffee and homemade biscuits will be swiftly brought to your room at any time of day or night.

I do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Queensberry in the not too distant future.

Yours sincerely

Lauren McCann
