This is the second time I have stayed at dukes hotel. The staff are probably the most friendliest and helpful I have ever come across.

Great location, good size rooms and great breakfast. I will definitely be returning!!!!

This was a surprise for my birthday all booked by my boyfriend. It was in a perfect location, a 5 min flat walk to town where everything is for you to see. On arrival we were slightly early for check in however they were very accommodating and said we could leave our bags whilst we go and explore Bath. They also provided us with a permit for parking as all the street parking is permit only (not on a Sunday though - which is very handy on the day we were leaving). When we came back in the evening out bags were in our room all nicely laid out and our clothes on the hangers in the wardrobe. It was a gorgeous room, nice decor fitting the style of the hotel. It was lovely, clean and big, with two big sash windows meant it was very light and airy. The windows also opened which was an added bonus after being in many hotels where you can't. It was very quiet which was perfect for a relaxin weekend. The bathroom was a very good size, with a big bath and power shower. We both had a good sleep both nights, however it was very hot, even with the windows open. This was because of the amazing sunny weather we had which is no fault of the hotel.

Breakfast was served between 8-10am over the weekend which is a good time and not too early. I must say that the breakfast was the best I've had. I had a full English both mornings and was able to swap items with ease as I don't like black pudding but was able to have an extra sausage instead. The scrambled egg was the best I've eaten and my compliments go to the chef, I could eat them all day long. We had an abundance of toast, fruit, tea, coffee, yoghurts etc. Perfect breakfast to start a busy day exploring.

Service was impeccable and helped in anyway possible. They even suggested a great place for drinks after our meal out, which suited our age group. We tried this place and went both Friday and Saturday night is was so lovely.

I cannot fault this hotel and I would highly recommend to anyone who is going to visit bath. We will certainly visit again and this hotel in the future.

A weekend in Bath – what a terrific birthday gift !! With the grandeur of the Royal Crescent, the Circus and Great Pulteney Street; Bath is a wonderful backdrop for a very memorable visit. Great Pulteney Street is a magnificent boulevard offering a magical introduction to Bath; our privileged location offers guest a level 5 minute walk into the heart of this world heritage city.. Delighted that you both shared a very happy stay. With thanks.

We stayed two nights while on a family holiday through the area. The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was tastefully and lovingly decorated. What we enjoyed most was how nice and helpful the owners were, the quality of the beds (everybody slept wonderfully) and the breakfast (especially the pancakes!). We'll definitely go back the next time we're in Bath.

We have just returned from a two night stay in Bath, and stayed at this hotel. There were 4 of us and so had two rooms. They were both pleasant rooms, with a nice old fashioned feel. MY partner and I stayed in the Montrose room. It was very spacious and had a lovely big bath. There was complimentary water, tea, coffee, and biscuits in the room which was nice. The curtains were nice and thick and so didn't let any light in. The bed was very comfortable and there were lovely shower and bath products left for us. We did feel however that the room needed a little bit of attention to detail. There was a crack in the wallpaper in the bathroom, one of the light fittings had come unscrewed on the wall and was just balanced, and there was a small damp patch on the ceiling, and the skirting boards looked a little dusty. These were only small things and if there were seen to then I would have given the hotel a 5 rating instead of a 4.

We had breakfast each morning, there was a nice choice of food, with ceral, fruit, jam, marmalade, juice, and pastries on the help yourself table (although no pastries on the first morning). There is a waiter service who was more than willing to please, he was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had a full english breakfast which was very tasty, and a basket full of toast between us. On the second morning I opted for pancakes with fruit compote, yogurt and maple syrup which were good but I would have still been hungry if I had just eaten them, they would be good for a light option. When I was ordering these, I was debating choosing an English breakfast over the pancakes as the morning before the scrambled eggs were so so good. Luckily I didn't have to choose as the waiter offered to bring me a separate portion of scrambled eggs! Yum yum!

The front of house staff and also the owners were very friendly and gave us lots of helpful advice about where to visit and what to do in Bath. The location was pretty perfect, a simple 5 minute walk to the Abbey, and the free parking permit was an excellent addition.

If we return to Bath, I would stay here again. Thanks to all at the Dukes hotel!! :)

Thank you for taking the time to write such a diligent trip advisor review. Delighted that you enjoyed the Montrose – a lovely room overlooking Great Pulteney Street. Thank you for pointing out the damp patch on the ceiling; we have suffered from some tremendous downpours in the past few weeks. We thought we had managed to address all of the loose tile issues however clearly for a guest lying on the bed this appears not to be the case !! Let me assure you, repairs will be undertaken and the ceiling re-decorated.
Pleased to hear you enjoyed the breakfast buffet and your cooked to order breakfast – one of the challenges of an interesting menu is choosing what to have – clearly a two day stay was not sufficient! Many thanks

We took my daughter up to see a show, was her 18th birthday. The hotel had a balloon and card in the room, a great start. What a fantastic hotel, I can't believe there is better in Bath for value. Thanks for a great time. We will be back!

Birthdays, Anniversaries and family celebrations are delightfully important. We thought the balloon a rather critical room decoration for anyone choosing to share their 18th birthday with us!! Delighted that you all found Dukes ‘fantastic’ and that the birthday, show and celebrations were a memorable success. With thanks.

This hotel is housed in the most stunningly beautiful Georgian street in the British Isles. We had a beautifully-furnished, spacious and comfortable four-poster room. The breakfast was exceptionally delicious, with locally-sourced ingredients that tasted just so much better than standard fare. The staff were all helpful and pleasant. It was a few minutes' walk to the City Centre, Spa, Abbey, shops and sights. And a few minutes the other way to parks and Kennet & Avon canal towpath through gorgeous countryside. Difficult to better this experience. (The towel-rail did not heat up; this is England. But the bathroom was bigger than some bedrooms I have occupied in lesser hotels. And, what a shower!)

Room Tip: Front overlooks beautiful Great Pulteney Street, rear overlooks gardens. Take your choice.

Thank you. Our location on Great Pulteney Street is as you note a tremendous source of pleasure and delight. One of the magical elements of Bath are the countryside views from so many locations within this world heritage city. A city wrapped around and nestled within seven hills. Each hot breakfast is cooked to order, using carefully sourced produce ranging from fish supplied from Paignton through to black pudding from the Isle of Lewis in Scotland !! – great that you found our offer ‘exceptionally delicious’. With thanks.

This hotel has all the marks of thoughtful and caring management, and the owners are very proactive in meeting and responding to their guests. They really care - and the personal touch and attention to every detail adds up to a comfortable and relaxed experience. My bed was outstandingly comfortable, the room charming, the bathroom attractive and modern and everything worked - quite a feat in a period hotel. Breakfast was delicious and the pancakes were much appreciated. It's very convenient for Bath sightseeing too.

Thank you for a very considered and perceptive review. We have a great team who all share a focus on presenting Dukes at her best. Our team are local to Bath and take great pride in sharing this world heritage city with visitors and guests. Each of our hot breakfast offerings are cooked to order – our pancakes are made to a unique recipe with a little zest and spice for good measure ! Thank you.
