“Great hotel and lovely staff!”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

Decided to stay here mainly due to Trip Advisor and its central location. We were not disappointed. Checked in around 4pm and parking was made easier due to the permit we were given. We were in the Richmond room which was fine for what we wanted. We had already been around Bath but after check in, we went to the Thermae Spa. David, the front of house, couldn't have done enough to help us during our stay. He recommended The Herd for something to eat as we fancied a steak and then Opium, a little tucked away cocktail bar. In the morning, breakfast was sumptuous and as we had some time to kill before Bath races, we were pointed in the direction of Colonna and Smalls coffee shop. I would definitely return to the hotel and would certainly try one of the four poster rooms. Apart from the location, the fact that the staff were so friendly makes this hotel easily recommended to others we know.

Thank you for your very positive recommendation. We offer 17 unique bedrooms, ranging from our compact, functional rooms - ideally suited to those who simply want a convenient base in Bath - through to our two ‘four poster’ rooms that are a little more special! Delighted that you found our breakfast ‘sumptuous’ and our team ‘so friendly’. With thanks.

Stayed here for a night recently, It is a magic little place. the room was beautiful, felt like I was in a period drama, beautiful antique furniture and the bathroom was lovely. It's such a pity they don't have a little bar as it would be a lovely place to sit and have a drink. The breakfast was fine, not brilliant, but the staff are so lovely and can't do enough for you. It's also really central for exploring Bath.

Room Tip: We paid the little bit extra for a deluxe room and think it was worth it

Thank you for the ‘high recommended’ commendation. As you note, most of our rooms are decorated sympathetically for the Georgian building in which we reside. We have a lovely garden terrace, a welcoming reception lounge and a bar adjoining the breakfast room! On your return we will treat you to a ‘glass’, compliments of the house. You need only to have asked. With thanks.

Stayed here for a night with my family to explore Bath and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and I could not fault it at all. My sister and I stayed in a floral bedroom (The Grafton), the decor was beautiful and our room was so cosy and clean and included all the amenities you would need for a short stay. An absolutely gorgeous building on a picturesque street in Bath, a short walk to all the attractions in the centre of Bath. The Staff throughout our stay were helpful, friendly and warm which made our stay fantastic. The breakfast included was delicious and there was so much choice, so definitely something for everyone. Would highly recommend a stay at Dukes, I can't imagine how you would be disappointed and I would definitely stay here upon returning to visit Bath.

Thank you for the ‘highly recommended’ commendation. The Grafton room is south facing overlooking the garden terrace. A warm and peaceful room with views towards the Somerset hills. With thanks.

We stayed here for one night at the end of July and it far exceeded our expectations. Our room - the Beaufort - was a suite on the first floor, beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and with two TVs.
A short, easy walk away from the centre of Bath, it was a delight to return to our most comfortable accommodation and we would have liked to take the bed home with us! The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely interested in their guests. The hotel was almost full but they coped very well and nothing was too much trouble. We came in by train but parking with the permit provided would have been easy. The walk from the station was longer than we expected but worth it to stay in this quiet and elegant part of Bath. Visiting the nearby Holborn museum was a treat. As our daughter lives just a ten minute train ride away, this is the first time we have stayed in Bath itself for many years, what a wonderful experience it was to stay at Dukes.

Room Tip: The Beaufort suite on the first floor has a hallway, bedroom, semi circular sitting room and bathroo...

The Holborne Museum, only a matter of yards from our entrance, features over 4,000 items collected by Sir Thomas William Holborne. In addition, unique displays and exhibitions are presented throughout the year. The work of Julian Opie, one of the UK’s most important and contemporary artists is currently there to be enjoyed. Delighted to read that we served as a very favourable base for your recent visit to your daughter. With thanks

My wife and I recently stayed here and were extremely happy with the hotel. The hotel staff especially David were extremely helpful and a delight to have a chat with. The perfect place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy the quiet life.

Dukes stands on Great Pulteney Street, arguably the finest Georgian boulevard in Northern Europe. We are a magnificent five minute, level walk into the heart of Bath. David is indeed a tremendously warm and welcoming host - very pleased to hear that you and your wife shared a thoroughly enjoyable stay with us. With thanks.

What better recommendation than booking for one night and loving where you're staying so much that you end up staying for two!

My husband booked this as a surprise for our Wedding Anniversary and it certainly didn't disappoint! We stayed in one of the Four Poster rooms - Athol - and it was a very spacious room, well appointed, full of character and with a delightful period style bathroom.

We were travelling with our 5 month old son and we had plenty of space for his travel cot and for him to crawl around.

The hotel is situated on a typically wide Georgian street but the traffic noise is minimal. Blinds and lovely thick curtains keep the room dark so you can enjoy a lay in without being disturbed.

Breakfast was delicious with a wide range of choice. Even though it was busy the staff are all efficient and cheerful. Front of house staff and the owners can't do enough to help you and offer advice on where to visit.

All in all a truly fantastic place to stay and well worthy of all the positive reviews. We will definitely be back!!

Thanks to everyone we met at the hotel for making our first trip to Bath such a memorable one.

The Athol is a majestic, high ceilinged room, overlooking Great Pulteney Street. A lovely, memorable room for celebrations, anniversaries and those special occasions. I am sure that your 5 month old son appreciated the space – your husband clearly booked the correct room for you all! With thanks.
