We enjoyed a lovely long-weekend at Dukes Bath for our wedding anniversary. It’s always great to find an independent hotel with friendly service and loads of character! We had an anniversary card waiting for us in our room and small gift which was a lovely touch.

The hotel is a five minute walk from the city centre, we took the train and had a twenty minute or so walk from the station and other guests were given street car parking permits on arrival. All of the attractions- the Roman Baths, Thermae Baths and famous streets are all easily walkable. We arrived in the morning to a very friendly welcome and left our bags so we could go exploring unencumbered until the check in time.

The decorations and period furnishings in our room had an oriental theme as did the dressing room. The bed was very comfy, there was a hair dryer, dressing table and plenty of room to get ready in the bedroom. There were two TVs with free-view channels and tea making facilities in the dressing room. When we visited there were a few hot water issues that precluded having a Bath but we both had showers with no drop off in temperature at all.

Breakfast included a continental buffet and cooked breakfast as well. I enjoyed the fry-up immensely thanks to the quality, local ingredients. Again all the staff and owners were very friendly and happy to provide advice on the long list of attractions. We had booked our restaurant and theatre night in advance which is worth doing if you are visiting over a weekend as the centre was very busy.

All in all a lovely stay I would heartily recommend!

Delighted that we were able to enhance your wedding anniversary celebrations. Dukes proudly stands on Great Pulteney Street, arguably one of the finest Georgian boulevards in Northern Europe. Congratulations on organising the restaurant and theatre at the same time as booking. A wise decision as the most popular seats in Bath are often booked well in advance! With thanks.

We stayed here for 3 nights on a city break in Bath. The hotel itself is in a Georgian building that is several hundred years old, which gives it a charm and history that ties in with the overall feeling of Bath itself. The hotel is located just over the bridge from the city centre, less than a five minute walk away.

The only downside to this was that we had to climb 52 steps (we counted them!) to get to our room. Our room was small yet spacious, but with a large bathroom. We had complimentary bathrobes which came in very useful.

Breakfast each morning was excellent, with a wide range of fruit, yogurt, pastries and cereal as well as hot options cooked to order. But what made this hotel so good was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, with one gentleman being very chatty, to the point that he was still talking to us as we walked down the steps and out of the hotel! But he gave us directions and recommendations, and remembered everything that we told him about us when talking to us the following day. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, from procuring us cut price vouchers for the Thermae spa or sorting out our parking (you get a guest permit for the duration of your stay which enables you to park on-street beside the hotel).

Overall, it was just a wonderful place to stay and if we return to Bath, we'll definitely come back here.

My partner and I have just returned from a two night stay at the Dukes hotel. The location is perfect as it is near bath centre and all of it's sights, shops, bars and restaurants, the free parking permit is definitely an added bonus and you are able to park right outside the hotel. When we arrived the staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful, our room was the Montrose which was spacious, nicely decorated but most importantly very clean. There was a few toiletries in the room which were very nice and tea and coffee with some nice biscuits. Breakfast was excellent especially the full English and there was plenty of choice. I do agree with a previous review that the Dukes would benefit from a little bar, there was one down stairs but it wasn't pointed out to us by staff so I'm assuming it wasn't used. If we return to Bath we would definitely stay here again the hotel and it's period features were beautiful, however we would choose a room at the rear of the hotel as the road could be a little noisy at times.

Room Tip: A deluxe double at the rear of the hotel, it's stairs only so choose a floor which will be ok fo...

Decided to stay here mainly due to Trip Advisor and its central location. We were not disappointed. Checked in around 4pm and parking was made easier due to the permit we were given. We were in the Richmond room which was fine for what we wanted. We had already been around Bath but after check in, we went to the Thermae Spa. David, the front of house, couldn't have done enough to help us during our stay. He recommended The Herd for something to eat as we fancied a steak and then Opium, a little tucked away cocktail bar. In the morning, breakfast was sumptuous and as we had some time to kill before Bath races, we were pointed in the direction of Colonna and Smalls coffee shop. I would definitely return to the hotel and would certainly try one of the four poster rooms. Apart from the location, the fact that the staff were so friendly makes this hotel easily recommended to others we know.

We offer 17 unique bedrooms, ranging from our compact, functional rooms - ideally suited to those who simply want a convenient base in Bath - through to our two ‘four poster’ rooms that are a little more special! Delighted that you found our breakfast ‘sumptuous’ and our team ‘so friendly’. With thanks.

Stayed here for a night recently, It is a magic little place. the room was beautiful, felt like I was in a period drama, beautiful antique furniture and the bathroom was lovely. It's such a pity they don't have a little bar as it would be a lovely place to sit and have a drink. The breakfast was fine, not brilliant, but the staff are so lovely and can't do enough for you. It's also really central for exploring Bath.

Room Tip: We paid the little bit extra for a deluxe room and think it was worth it

Thank you for the ‘high recommended’ commendation. As you note, most of our rooms are decorated sympathetically for the Georgian building in which we reside. We have a lovely garden terrace, a welcoming reception lounge and a bar adjoining the breakfast room! On your return we will treat you to a ‘glass’, compliments of the house. You need only to have asked. With thanks.

Stayed here for a night with my family to explore Bath and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and I could not fault it at all. My sister and I stayed in a floral bedroom (The Grafton), the decor was beautiful and our room was so cosy and clean and included all the amenities you would need for a short stay. An absolutely gorgeous building on a picturesque street in Bath, a short walk to all the attractions in the centre of Bath. The Staff throughout our stay were helpful, friendly and warm which made our stay fantastic. The breakfast included was delicious and there was so much choice, so definitely something for everyone. Would highly recommend a stay at Dukes, I can't imagine how you would be disappointed and I would definitely stay here upon returning to visit Bath.

Thank you for the ‘highly recommended’ commendation. The Grafton room is south facing overlooking the garden terrace. A warm and peaceful room with views towards the Somerset hills. With thanks.
