“One of the nicest, most gracious hotels I've had the pleasure of staying at”

The title really says it all. What a treat staying here. The moment the taxi pulled up to the front doors we were warmly greeted by the doorman/concierge, who assisted with our bags and check-in before walking us to our room. All very genuine and friendly - not at all formal or stiff as one might expect (or certainly as I've experienced at other hotels).

The room was on the main floor and had a pretty Juliette balcony overlooking the truly spectacular grounds. The bathroom was spacious and well-appointed. Lots of marble. Nice toiletries. Good towels. No complaints.

We stayed two nights - a Thursday and a Friday - and on the Friday evening we were disturbed at 4:00 am by an extended loud, slightly drunken conversation directly outside our door. Unfortunate, but not the hotel's fault.

We were traveling with our 8-year old and while this isn't a family-friendly spot, we were made to feel welcome by the staff. The pool and spa area is a treat - though if you are traveling with children expect a bit of the "hairy eyeball" from the mostly senior-citizen users of the pool. I believe the hotel sells memberships in the spa to the local community and I understand that they aren't necessarily happy with sharing the space with kids. We did our best to keep to ourselves and not disturb other guests, but we did feel a little conspicuous in the pool area.

The spa/hyrdrotherapy rooms (which are included with the room charge) are wonderful (not open to kids) and I encourage any guests to avail themselves of them.

The hotel has beautiful, gracious grounds that sit on a hill about a 20 minute walk into the main part of town. Very doable for someone in decent shape with comfy shoes.

I hope I have the chance to stay here again - definitely a favourite of mine.

We stayed here from Sunday 22nd - Wednesday 24th May for a short break after getting married on the Saturday. It was very quiet which was lovely as I hear it can be popular at weekends! Warm and friendly welcome by staff at reception. On hearing it was our honeymoon, we were upgraded to a four poster suite immediately and then brought chocolates and a congratulations card ten minutes after getting to our room. Such a lovely touch and start to a wonderful stay!

Our room was immaculate, very clean and well presented. The only moan I have is that it would be nice if there was Freeview on the tv, it's nice if you can't sleep to have something to watch. I would expect a few more channels in an English hotel of this standard. But everything else was perfect. The room had a large bathroom with huge bath, good shower, nice toiletries. The bed was unbelievably comfortable.

We ate in the hotel's restaurant as a special treat. It was absolutely delicious and the service was very good but it was quite expensive. However since we had saved for this trip we didn't mind splashing out for a special occassion! The other night we found a gorgeous Italian restaurant called Martini Restaurant on George Street which I highly reccommend, it was fantastic.

Lunch in the hotel's other more casual restaurant was lovely with nice views of the gardens and beautiful decor.

The spa facilities are amazing, gorgeous indoor pool and outdoor spa with sun loungers which is lovely if the weather is right. It was very quiet as we went mid week so we basically had everything to ourselves at some points. It is a very relaxing experience and one of the best hotel spas I've been to.

The concierge were very helpful when we left. Offering to go and fetch my car from the car park for us. Very helpful and gave us trips and directions for our final day in Bath.

Would definitely stay here again, it was a real treat!

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the hotel for just the weekend away. Staff were very friendly and remembering names, always helpful. As a general rule our stay was excellent, brilliant location, lovely room with excellent views, lovely breakfast and the spa facilities were brilliant.
There were just a few point which needed improving which other reviews have picked up on, for example the leaking shower screen, bathroom generally needing a tough up and not quite being as clean as I liked. The breakfast did feel a little rushed. Also having to pay extra to park when you're already paying so much for the room. The spa was excellently clean, only down was there being alot of kids when we were there and one of the spa rooms was closed due to maintanence.
All in all an excellent hotel and I would recommend staying there to anyone!

Stayed over the Bank holiday weekend. Whilst room was great, it was noisy due to creaking floorboards from the room above. Service was a bit hit and miss. Breakfast was a shambles in terms of slowness of service, so much so that we skipped it altogether on the second day. Why charge for carparking? Concerge were attentive, although the taxi ordering service didn't quite work. Room service was great but a bit slow in terms of bring drinks to the room. Toiletries in the room not always refreshed correctly.
If a hotel is classed as 5 star then it should provide 5 star service, these small things all add up to dimish what is a hotel in a beautiful location with a great spa.

Room Tip: Don't go for a room on the ground floor.

So glad we chose Bath and this hotel in particular as aplace to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. 5 star facilities and service; the quality of the food was outstanding. Staff were attentive but not starchy; they retained a warmth and friendlines. The Spa was arael bonus -the best I've experienced at a hotel.

This was the second time that my boyfriend & I stayed at this hotel. We enjoyed our first stay so much we wanted to return. Unfortunately, we had to check out earlier than we needed to because of illness (nothing to do with the hotel - but a flu!). This aside, we enjoyed our second stay as much as the first. The spa, in particular the outdoor thermal pool and Thermal Suite is fantastic - more enjoyable and relaxing than Bath Spa itself in the city as it is much less crowded with tourists! The spa was our main reason for revisiting the hotel. Our room was comfortable, although it overlooked the car park and not the breathtaking views of Bath to be had from the more expensive rooms. The bathroom was cosy and fully stocked. All staff were friendly, in particular the Ballroom restaurant staff where we had a wonderful - albeit expensive - evening meal. The only negative points about our two stays were that you can incur additional costs quite easily (charges apply for parking and also ordering hot breakfast items). This is an expensive hotel, but then again it is a luxurious one!

Room Tip: Overlooking Bath - expensive but worth it
