Great hotel, fab room, truly superb service, and excellent pool and spa for relaxing in (pool too small for proper fierce swimming). Thoroughly recommended as a comfortable, indulgent base for visiting a great city.

Room Tip: We stayed in the North wing- older part of hotel with rooms with big windows and high ceilings. Pref...

We stayed for one night at The Bath Spa Hotel in October 2011 and had a great time. We travel a great deal and stay in a lot of great hotels. We had a very smooth experience from the start from being greeted at the door and our bags whisked away for us to a delicious meal in the restaurant. Service in the restaurant was excellent - not fussy, but incredibly attentive and friendly. Breakfast is always my favourite meal and it didn't disappoint - a big buffet and constant refills of coffee. We didn't use the spa, but it looked very pleasant. Also, although it feels like you are out of the city, we walked in and it only took 15 minutes - best of both worlds. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Odd start to our stay. A barrier has been erected across the drive: visitors/guests sometimes forget to get card from reception and end up blocking the drive. Rather frustrating. Our first room was nice, but had a lengthy walk and set of stairs to it. However, the room was cold and the heating didn't work (just made a noise). The room also did not have a directory of hotel services, which was a shame. Excellent night doorman came to see if he could fix (he couldn't) and with a little prompt took us to a second room that was close, but not too close, to a lift. room was good, if a little too hot.
Spa was excellent, but a little crowded. Had breakfast on last morning, expensive but excellent: worth doing once during a stay.
Almost five stars, but small details, including odd TV channel selections mean only 4 this time.

This was my first time in Bath, and my stay was fantastic. The hotel was beautifully laid out, with wonderful decor, and very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms themselves were very comfortable and spacious. I stayed in one of the garden rooms. The spa was wonderful, and I would recommend having one of the facials, because they were fantastic. Our group dined privately in the evening and the food was outstanding. I would definitely come back.

Room Tip: Garden rooms were lovely

Had the pleasure of staying for a night as a pamper night for my partner. From the drive up the tree lined avenue to leaving late the next afternoon everything was sublime.
Being met at the main door by a friendly but formal concierge who took our bags and showed us to a very friendly and helpful receptionist. Everything about this hotel is 5 star. The room was elegant and very well equipped. The restaurant and waiter service was fantastic.
The spa facilities and staff were also first class. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting that extra special stay

We booked this hotel for 1 night in January for an overnight stop before heading on to Cornwall. We booked this particular hotel for the facilities and spa and were dissapointed to find that the jacuzzi was out of action as it was being replaced. Although we understand maintenance has to occur it was a shame we weren't notified of this when we booked a week earlier and that this wasn't reflected in the room rate. The spa however was very nice and both myself and my husband enjoyed a treatment in there which was very good.

Check-in was fine until we reached our room on the top floor and found the room key wouldn't work so my husband had to go back to reception to sort this out. Check-out also seemed to be fine until we tried to leave the grounds and found that we hadn't been given a card to get out of the gates so we ended up reversing back up the drive to sort this out.

The hotel has amazing history and character but unfortunately this isn't reflected in the rooms where we felt we could have been in any hotel. It was very clean however and the bed was very comfortable.

I wouldn't recommend dinner in the hotel as we found it hugely dissapointing, Our dinner was paid for in our room rate but had we had to pay seperately it wouldn't have been cheap. The food was very bland and I didn't enjoy one single course of my meal.

One compliment I would definitely pay this hotel is that the staff are excellent and extremely helpful and friendly. Based on our stay though I wouldn't call the hotel 5* or say it was worth the money we paid.

Stayed for one night for the spa facilities. Reception staff great, room fine though there were a few housekeeping issues, though nothing special. Spa facilities really, really disapointing. Blocked jets in both hot tub and outside hot pool, towels and robes strewn absolutely everywhere, not overly clean, poolside furniture broken, tatty - some of the footrests were actually missing entire legs. We were told by one customer that this was the norm and that the jets on the hot tubs had been blocked for weeks. Food in dining room fabulous but were ripped off on drinks, ordered gin and tonics, wasn't until the bill came at the end of the meal that we discovered we had been served doubles of an expensive brand at an extortionate price each. All in all, for £350 for one night for 2 people, we expected much more. Have had more impressive facilities at a much lower cost elsewhere.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere!
