Such a beautiful hotel in stunning grounds. Staff were very helpful on arrival and check in was speedy whilst the concierge prepared our room for our arrival...nice touch.
Room was lovely, very well decorated with everything you need and more. Very luxurious feel and very relaxing colour schemes to maximise experience.
Relaxed feel throughout the hotel whilst maintaining 5* standards gave for a very calming stay.
Spa and thermal suite were fantastic and by far the best we've seen as part of a hotel. Could have spent hours just in the thermal suite and outdoor pool alone!
Breakfast was lovely with a vast selection as expected and very attentive staff.
Overall, really pleased with our stay and would definately recommend you book (but shop around first for best price as it varies greatly). Fantastic staff, beautiful hotel, relaxing spa...just wish we'd stayed longer.

A beautiful old house that has some interesting history. Very beautifully restored, the rooms are large, clean and well equipped. The staff simply can't do enough for you and will make you feel very special.

It is perfectly situated to tour Bath. We walked into the centre of town and it took us 10 minutes, maximum. However it is secluded in it's own perfect grounds so extremely peaceful.

Breakfast is also varied and in my opinion gorgeous. For me it was the small touches, such as a pot of tea is made with real tealeaves and unrefined sugar (if required). All food is locally sourced and organic and you could certainly tell. It tasted amazing. The yellowist egg yolks I have ever seen!

The spa is just pure indulgance. It has an outside heated pool with jacuzzi seating and a waterfall back massager. The outside pool is accessed through water from the inside so no shock of walking out into the cold. Inside there is a large pool with a roped off area for the serious swimmer and a jacuzzi seperate. There is another area which has 5 rooms and 2 showers. Steam, ice, sauna, dry sauna and aromatherapy steam rooms, a massage shower and another multifunction shower which includes aroma shower and drench.
The inside and outside areas have comfortable pool side seats for relaxing.

Negatives:
We confirmed breakfast when we checked in however at breakfast we were told continental only and english would be extra. Very naughty. Double check when you book or check in.

The main indoor pool was closed due to maintanence. This I discovered was planned maintanence. We should have been informed in advance.

A really nice hotel about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Bath. Friendly attentive and helpful staff. Stayed for five days business and then with my wife for the weekend so that we could enjoy the many pleasures of Bath which is a beautiful compact city that is ideal for a few days break.
My only small complaint with a published room rate of £365+ I think it is a bit of a cheek to charge extra for a cooked breakfast accepting that both the breakfast both buffet and cooked are excellent.
Good spa facilities, beautiful gardens, plenty of free parking. The bedrooms are well furnished with huge comfortable beds. An excellent hotel if you want to spoil yourself for a few days.

After my last visit left us longing to go back, so took another chance to get away and I am happy to say did not disappoint.
Charlotte on reception I believe is fairly new but in my opinion is the best I have ever come across a real credit and could not do enough for us. Saying that all staff were excellent.
Yes the rates at times are a bit pricey but well worth the money and we cannot bring ourselves to go anywhere else for a short get away. All I can say is thank you to all there but most still another special mention to Charlotte.

We stayed in this hotel to have a relaxing weekend break - which it certainly was.
On arrival our room wasn't ready but the staff were happy to look after our bags whilst we wandered into the city centre. It is a 15- 20 minute walk into the centre - up hill on the way back!
Rooms are old fashioned and elegant - the whole hotel screams elegance!
Spa facilities are amazing - after walking around the city it was such a treat to get back and relax in the massive outdoor jacuzzi before heading inside to try out the other spa facilities, we particularly infra-red sauna and aromatherapy room. There is also a nice pool and you can book lots of spa treatments - we didn't because the complimentary facilities were so good and kept us busy!
The restaurant is beautiful and breakfast was excellent - the bars are also really nice and cosy - although drinks are fairly expensive.
Absolutely loved our stay here and have since recommended it to many friends!

I recently came over to the UK from Australia to take my mother to Bath for her 73rd Birthday. So I hoped for something special. This hotel is lovely with beautiful grounds and architecture. The spa complex is to die for. The rooms are a little small. But what really made this special (and would make me return) was the service. Ian Griebenow the manager was amazing, charming and professional assisting us in every way. Ajit More the restaurant manager couldn't do enough for my mother, always gracious and cheerful with just the right amount of attentiveness. The evening chef was always prepared to make us salads that weren't on the menu and the consierge was a delight. I'm used to staying in 5 star hotels but that bit of extra attention to detail in terms of service put this hotel a notch above. We left feeling relaxed and cared for and we can't wait to return.
Sue Australia.

We just returned from trip through western England, and Bath and the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel were the highlights of our trip. The hotel is like a manor house, set on gorgeous grounds. It's just a short walk to the center of Bath, but the hotel feels like a luxurious world apart.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but we checked in, parked the car (very nice parking facilities) and took off on foot to tour the town. When we returned, our bags were set up in a beautiful, spacious room - the nicest of our entire trip. The bath was wonderful too and I was delighted to take a bath in Bath (sorry, couldn't resist...) All was clean and tastefully decorated .

The only downside was dinner in the restaurant. Although the food was good, it took over 45 minutes for our first course to arrive, and another half-hour for the main course. It's a shame that such a wonderful resort should suffer from such poor kitchen service. The wait staff was very apologetic, but the wait spoiled an expensive dinner. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, however.

We only wish we could have stayed longer (and eaten in town!).
