“Just brilliant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014

We spent a really enjoyable couple of hours with our guide David today and couldn't believe how quickly the tour passed. His enthusiasm for his subject shone through and we were able to re-visit the parts we found most interesting afterwards. Can't believe this is actually a free service, it's just brilliant. We would definitely recommend the tour to newcomers to Bath.

“Free Guided Walk!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

There is no need to book, they take place twice a day, every day (except Christmas Day) and it's all free - what's not to like?

Our guide, Bob was excellent. He clearly loved his home city, and with his enthusiasm and knowledge kept us well entertained for over two hours.

A lovely way of getting to know and enjoy the city.

“Mayor's Honorary Guides”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

This is the first thing we did as soon as we arrived in Bath - and I can unequivocally say also the BEST thing we did in Bath. This two-hour walking tour given by one of the city's volunteer guides, Peter, introduced us to Bath - its history, architecture, people, culture, etc. It was a fascinating way to know the city in a short amount of time - and it's free!! Peter, our guide, was very knowledgeable and tried his best to keep everybody together as we made our way around the older, historic part of the city. That was no easy feat since we had a large group of 35+. I have to commend Peter for his patience, his humor, and especially his exceptional knowledge of this beautiful city which he willingly shares with visitors from far and wide. I am very thankful we had a chance to take this tour and thankful to all who made it and continue to make it possible. I recommend it highly to anyone contemplating a visit to Bath.

“Highpoint of visit to Bath”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

I couldn't agree more with all of the wonderful things that have been said about these wonderful individuals who clearly love their city and are committed to sharing its proud history with visitors from all over the world. I had one day on my own in Bath and our tour with Bob was not only informative, but immensely entertaining. Thank you to the Mayor and all the Honorary Guides for sharing your beautiful city with us. I hope to return again aoon.

“I dislike and avoid guided tours...except this one”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

If we could have paid for this tour retroactively, we would have. Richard was our guide (there are evidently two Richards; you want the one who takes you to the Assembly Rooms), and he was fantastic. There was a little kid in our group, and he went out of his way to include the child, as well as anyone who contributed. He was very funny, he was knowledgable, an excellent storyteller, and did not get annoyed by people asking questions if he didn't happen to know the answer. He went out of his way to show us interesting places the other guides don't always take you to, and he gave us opportunities to stop and look at things and explore them. He told anecdotes and explained things in such a way that even if you don't like history, you'll find it very interesting. I liked Bath twice as much after the tour. It ran long, but I would have listened for an extra couple hours if he'd wanted to go on. I wish every city did something like this and had tour guides as knowledgable and lovely as Bath's guides.
