“Our most favourite guest house in the heart of the City of Bath.!”

Always a warm welcome at this beautiful Guest House, delicious freshly cooked breakfasts and so completely central to everything we wanted to do in Bath. We had a lovely time wandering round the Christmas market during the days and also in the evenings. Great atmosphere with a magical setting surrounding the Chalets close to the Abbey Church and such friendly people everywhere we went. Had supper, on one of our nights, at Sally Lunn's, an absolute must for good food and cosy surroundings. Thanks again to Katriona and the team for making our celebration stay so memorable.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors at the back have superb views and are quiet. The night time scenes of the...

Great location - a stones throw from the Abbey and all that is the glory of the centre of Bath. We visit Bath regularly and this is the first time we have stayed at the Windsor, we will do so again without hesitation - it is so handy for everything. Breakfast is good (although I did expect more than just continental breakfast to be included in the tariff - cooked breakfast was extra!). Price was OK but seriously if you want to be this close to the centre then expect to pay this price and more - for me it was good value. Parking is on the street - you pay £12/day for a permit that the hotel give you to put on the dashboard, I expected this to be a pain, however, at the height of the December Christmas Market, we did not have a problem getting a very convenient space 30 seconds from the front door. There was a very welcome complimentary mulled wine that was very comforting on the cold December days. If you are thinking of this place then my recommendation is give it a try - it may not suit you, but for my wife and I it was just what we wanted.

Stayed in the Windsor 4 poster (each room has a name) for one night on a very good rate, possibly because it was a last minute booking and midweek.
The staff were very friendly, the room spacious, the bed comfortable. The bathroom somewhat small but not an issue, very clean, bath with integral shower. In the room, there was a desk, bedside tables with lamps, and a tea and coffee set with biscuits for self service, very nice for the morning.
There is no lift here (this is mentioned on the website) so if you had serious problems with stairs you'd have to get a room on the ground floor.
In the morning an excellent continental breakfast, there was a great choice and it was very good quality, definitely 10 out of 10 for that. It's not self service like at many places but ordering and having it served added to the quality feeling, service was very quick. They do also do some add on cooked items at an extra price but didn't feel the need for those.
The hotel is exceptionally well placed for Bath itself, perhaps 5 minutes walk at most and you are right in the centre of town, but you are far enough out there is no noise from people leaving restaurants and bars.
If you have a car, then as always with Bath, parking is an issue, the hotel offers a day pass at £12 which is good value for Bath, but the trick is finding a space, which we managed to, but I could imagine you might spend a fair time trawling round the town looking for a space. But this isn't specific to this hotel, anywhere in central Bath would have that issue.
The hotel offers free wifi, and air conditioning (very rare for smaller hotels) which wasn't needed in England in December, but in a rare heat wave would be very welcome.
Well I think that covers it, main summary = I'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Depending how fit you are, some rooms are up quite a few flights of stairs. Check before booking if...

Could not fault the staff at this hotel. Friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough to assist in any way. This started when I booked as I asked which floor we would be on as my husband is recovering from a hip replacement. We were on the 3rd floor so they very kindly moved us to the 1st floor. Don't think we've ever stayed in such a friendly place.
We managed to upgrade for £10 extra which was ideal as Crescent room was a lot bigger with a huge bed.
My only gripes would be the Wifi being very intermittent and I didn't feel that a cooked breakfast should need to be purchased as an extra for the price we paid for the room.
But these didn't spoil our stay in any way and we would highly recommend this hotel to others.

My wife and I only stopped for one night. We arrived early at the hotel at midday having walked from the railway station. The lady on reception was really friendly, helpful and accommodating and genuinely interested in helping us make the most of our trip. We were able to leave our luggage there so that we could explore Bath before coming back to check in - we were also able to leave our cases there for several hours the following day after check-out and so really enjoyed Bath to the full over the two days. When we finally left the hotel we discovered that no matter who you dealt with, all the staff were equally kind and thoughtful which really did make a difference to our stay. They were all a delight. The hotel was tastefully decorated and furnished throughout, including our standard double room "Orchard" which although a little on the small side was more than ample for our needs, was excellent value, and provided us with a great night's sleep. For a historic house it was surprisingly quiet and we heard no noise from other rooms and no creaking floorboards! Breakfast was absolutely lovely and we certainly didn't feel the need to order anything hot from the a la carte menu. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Bath. In fact we are both already looking forward to it.

My Husband and I enjoyed a 3 night stay to celebrate a special birthday. We stayed in the Abbey room on the 2nd floor. The room was nicely furnished and the bed both large and comfortable. We had a mixture of the continental breakfast and choices from the main menu over the 3 days, all very tasty and well appreciated. The service from the friendly staff was lovely, if you needed stronger tea, this was seen to without hesitation. The hotel is perfectly placed for everything that you will need in Bath. We highly recommend No8 Bistro in Argyle Street. We will definitely be staying at The Windsor when we visit Bath in the future.

Just got back from a two night stay here with my husband. We stayed in the Orchard room on the 2nd floor. What warm and friendly staff, right from when we arrived to the moment when we left (on a busy Saturday morning when they were fully booked). As this is a Grade 1 listed building, there are no lifts which may not be so good for the less agile. The room (Orchard) was lovely, clean and had everything we needed. Only things that need to be dealt with was the tap makes an awful noise when using and the shower head perhaps needed dealing with as leaked where it shouldn't have done. I also found the bed a touch too soft but then that was just down to my own personal preference The breakfast was lovely, we stuck with the continental breakfast which we found more than adequate. The hotel was close enough for the central of Bath and also for the Holbourn Museum and Jane Austen's home at the other end of the street. Both my husband and I would recommend this hotel.
