“Lovely B&B”
Reviewed 21 November 2011

we had notified dorian house advising them we would be in Bath at 2pm but arrived a few hours early and received a warm welcome and our room was ready. we stayed in 'elgar' room which was smaller than expected but we were only there for one night and we booked under a special rate so it was a bargain. the location is great not far from town centre. room has very comfy bed and lovely bed linen, small bathroom equipped with powerful shower and the white company shower gels and soft towels. also had waffle bath robes. breakfast was fantastic, full english, cereals, fruit, croissants, yogurts, teas coffees juices and more needless to say we didnt need to eat much for the rest of the day!
very pleasant place to stay, all staff are friendly and the house itself is full of charm. would stay here again but probably pay more to stay in a larger room.

Stayed at the Dorian House for 3 days recently - On arrival well before the actual check in time of 2pm, not only were we shown straight to our room, but we were advised we'd had been given a free upgrade to a 4 poster room ! The very helpful young lady who showed us in ( didn't catch her name, thought she may have been from Australia?) also insisted on helping us with our bags, even though we siad we could manage ourselves - A very nice start to our stay.

The room itself was lovely - nice big bed, and lots of space to spread out. The bathroom was also nice and roomy with a bath & shower combo in it - There was also a range of toiletries from the White Company which were very pleasant - In fact, the hand wash was so nice I even though about pinching it ! ( Only Kidding!!). There were also Robes provided and a handy folder with info about Bath and the area around The Dorian.

The Hotel is owned by a chap who is a Lead Cello-ist with one of the big London Orchestras and there is a musically "theme" running through the hotel - All the rooms are named after composers - ours was "Casals" and there is background cello music in the breakfast room - I'm not a massive classical fan, but found it a nice touch. The breakfast itself was lovely, there was a nice big selection of cereal, fruit, pastries etc for those strange people whom don't like to start the day with a full cooked breakfast, which was lovely.

Location wise, The Dorian is up a fairly steep hill from the centre of Bath -- It's about a 10 minute walk down the the main drag, and coming back up it costs approx £5 in a taxi and there is also frequent bus services which drop right near the Dorian. There is an area called Bear Flat about 5 mins walk up the hill from the Dorian, there's a fair few shops there for the essentails if you don't want to go down into the City, and also a great little "GastroPub" called The Bear which serves excellent food.

Would recommend the Dorian to anyone and would definitely go back if I'm ever in Bath

Stayed here with my girlfriend for the weekend around a friend's wedding.

Lovely house which has been fully and sympathetically modernised, friendly and efficient service and a really nice breakfast served in a bright garden room.

Comfy bed in a big room and a very serviceable bathroom with White company shower stuff and a big skylight (not overlooked as on the top floor!). Lovely view of the city from the room.

Ten or fifteen minutes' walk to the City centre or they will happily order a taxi.

All in all a really nice stay.

Room Tip: Didn't look around fully, sorry!

Superb welcome, the room was large, clean and superbly decorted. Just a 15 min walk from the centre of Bath. Breakfast was spot on. We were celebrating a special birthday and wanted a bucket of ice for our 'bubbly'....this was no problem at all. It's the small things that made the Dorian special for us.
Thank you.

A lovely place! Our room was spacious and the bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom! Comfortable, clean and cosy. Good mattress which was important because of our bad backs. We had a friendly welcome and was given all the information we needed to visit bath. Good breakfast with a choice of English and continental. Will definitely recommend and hope to return ourselves one day again.

We don't get to go away much not now we have a baby and a toddler so our one night in Bath meant a lot to us.

We stayed in the four poster room which was very comfortable. The shower was great and we loved the LED lights in the bathroom which gave off enough light in the dark to see without having to turn the main light on. Breakfast was superb, a lovely variety of fruit and cereals and a scrumptous cooked breakfast which set us up for the day.
The owner was really helpful and gave us a map and instructions on how to get into town by foot and a list of restaurants.
We would thoroughly recommend Dorian House.
