We stayed in Brooks Guesthouse for a night in April, a rare and welcome break from two small children, and loved the design and the facilities! Great location, just a short stroll up to the Royal Crescent and ten minute walk to the centre of town, perfect for sightseeing and eating out. Staff and owners were incredibly helpful and informative, and their recommendation of a meal in the nearby Marlborough Tavern was bang on! We had a great meal out and 36 hours away felt more like a long weekend!

We recently spent three nights at the Brooks Guesthouse and totally fell in love! The decour is a perfect blend of hip modern style, vintage pieces, and lovingly restored original architecture. The staff were warm, genuine and attentive, and the owners took time to chat and give us personal attention. My partner loved the breakfast room; in particular, the collection of silver tea pots hanging on the wall. I loved the free internet access laptop, amazing smelling mandarin and bergamot toiletries, and the funky design of the "blue room" in which we stayed. We will be recommending a trip to Bath and a stay at the Brooks guesthouse to all our friends and are already planning our next trip!

This is a delightful place to stay in Bath. Rooms beautifully decorated and really comfy beds. Bathroom beautifully tiled with a shower that worked! The breakfast was amazing. Plenty of choice and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Located about 5 mins walk to the centre, bus stop right outside the hotel. Would thorougly recommend this - you cannot fault it.

Breakfast tasty and nice choice.

Would recommend a great pub called Gascoyne Place for a great night our, food superb.

The only thing that outdid the amazing sunshine of south England, was the warmth and friendliness of all the staff in Brooks. The guesthouse is run with the professionalism of a hotel wrapped with the friendlyness of visiting your favourite granny!!! The freshness and choice on the breakfast menu was excellent. Cant wait to go back!

My Boyfriend and I stayed at Brooks Guest House for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend (Sat 11th - Mon 13th April 2009). This was our first visit to Bath and will not be our last!

On arrival at the train station, we walked to the guest house, which took about 15-20 minutes around the edge of town (along the river). On arrival at the guesthouse, someone else was already checking in (the reception area is very small), so we were directed through to the Guest Lounge to wait a few minutes.
The lounge is airy and bright with lots of comfy chairs, a digital radio playing softly in the background and a laptop with free internet access for guests. There was also a selection of board games on the table, a beautiful fireplace and mirror and a comprehensive selection of leaflets and maps for Bath.

We stayed in room 22, a King Size Double Bedroom (it's actually the one on the website as an example!). It was gorgeous and we both fell in love with it as soon as we were shown through the door! It looks out to the back of the house, onto a small pebbled courtyard and is very quiet. The only thing we found off-putting was that staff members walked past the window to a small shed in the courtyard! We just kept the curtains pulled almost closed and it wasn't a problem for us. The room was very cool and the bed was so comfortable with lovely crisp linen.

The room had tea/coffee facilities, a hairdryer, flat screen TV and digital radio (also an ipod docking station). We did read on the information leaflet that DVD players are available free of charge with DVDs to rent at the front desk. The bathroom was lovely and modern, with a huge shower head!

Downstairs by the breakfast room, is the honesty bar, which we thought was a fantastic idea. You help yourself to drinks and snacks and write down what you've had and are charged on departure. We enjoyed wine, baileys, vodka, G&Ts, crisps and nuts from the bar. There is also a guest fridge as well where you can store your own chilled products (probably a good idea if you get a bargain in town at an off-license).

Brooks guest house is about a 10 minute walk into the centre of town. There did appear to be a bus which ran up and down the main road (bus stop right outside the guest house), but I couldn't say for certain if the bus went into the town centre as we didn't use it.

We decided on the first day of being in Bath, that we will definietly be going back later in the year and we will be staying at Brooks guest house again!

Whilst in Bath, we ate at the Crystal Palace pub for lunch on the Saturday. This was great and the staff were so friendly with very quick service at the bar. The food was tasty!
We had dinner that night at the Moon and Sixpence. The atmosphere here was lovely and very ambient with the lighting dimmed as the evening got darker outside. Upstairs was a cocktail bar where we went afterwards. It was pricy, but we would probably go there again.
On the Sunday, we ate at the Retro Cafe for a late brunch. There was a good selection on the menu, it was tasty and affordable. We ate lunch at a pub just a couple of doors up from Sally Lunn's (the queue for Sally Lunn's was very long!)
For dinner on the Sunday night we went to OneFishTwoFish which was amazing and we will definitely be eating here again when we go back to Bath. The staff were friendly and very knowledgable about the menu. The food was well presented and sooooo tasty! After this we stopped off at Pulp, a cocktail/tapas bar, on the way back to the guest house for a couple of drinks.

As we weren't in Bath for long, we only went to the Roman Baths as part of our sightseeing on the Sunday of our stay. I really enjoyed this and the free audio guide is a must! Next time we will visit the Thermae Spa as well!
Make sure you stop off at one of the traditional sweet shops and/or fudge shops in town......yummy!!!
There were also quite a lot of street entertainers around on the Saturday, everything was much quieter on the Sunday, probably due to it being Easter.

My partner and I had a very pleasant two night stay at Brooks Guesthouse. The staff are lovely and friendly and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Our room was fairly compact but was decorated nicely and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The location is perfect; not right in the town centre, but a nice 5 min stroll to everything. We had a back facing room so it was very quiet. We would definitely stay there again.
