“Good central location”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

Took my parents to this hotel for the Bath Christmas market. It was less than 5 minutes into town so was very convenient. Staff were very good and the breakfast was excellent. Toiletries in bathroom were good and the rooms were good size (stayed in rooms 330 and 328 which were quite a trek from reception but nice and quiet). If you request a king size room or double when you book you will probably need to sort this out when you get to the hotel again as both our rooms were not made up as king sizes. The duvet covers only just fitted the bed and we thought we might get cold but they were perfectly warm enough and the pillows were very comfortable.

bags were put in to storage for us when we checked out until we were ready to leave. we were a little rowdy and had some silly games but had no complaints off staff or customers.

I stayed here for two nights together with two friends. We thought the location of the hotel was great, really close to the Abbey, Baths and Christmas market. We were a bit disappointed that although I booked all three rooms at the same time, on the same booking, I was on a different floor to my friends (who were also at different ends of the corridor to each other). The only room they could move me to so that we could all be on the same floor was a smoking room which really did have an overpowering smell of smoke, despite having an air purifier in there. I was suprised to find smoking rooms at all, especially as there was a sign by the lift which said smoking was against the law in the hotel. The room I ended up in was ok, a bit tatty in places and as it was next to the lift a bit noisy. I was also woken up by the overpowering smell of toast - I think my room was right over the dining room. The duvet and pillows were lovely and comfy although the mattress was a bit hard and had a ridge down the centre. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and our waitress was very pleasant. Overall, it is a nice hotel, I just think I may have been a bit unlucky with my room as both of my friends had larger, nicer rooms.

Excellent location in regards to visiting the centre of Bath, not exactly cheap for a one night stay but nice rooms as you would expect and good that you can park in the car-park for only £15 and leave your car there for both days of your visit.

We stayed here for a midweek break at the beginning of December having got rates of around £120 per night including breakfast from a "comparision" website. We felt the hotel was good value at this rate but not at the hotel's normal rate of £250. The location is very good and you can park for £15 per exit in the car park underneath. It looks pretty unattractive from the outside but it's much better inside. The rooms are nice enough but the bathroom in our room only had a shower - no bath. Breakfast was really nice and the gym ok.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back overlook the river rather than the road, and are very quiet - providing you do...

As a student at the University of Bath I would grumble incessantly at the rectangular blandness of the Hilton Bath City - totally out of place in an 18th century architectural jewel like Bath. Near the foot of Walcot St. and alongside the Avon near the Pulteney Bridge - it does stand out (and not in a good way). And then I went looking for accommodations during the Glastonbury Festival. Well, I'm not grumbling about the Hilton any longer. We found the Hilton to be a comfortable property - with one of the major knocks being the rather furious thrashing of the lifts (see the helpful recommendation below about not staying in a room ending in 01). However, our room at the south end was quiet, spacious, clean and more than reasonably up to date. Staff was sincere and helpful. Breakfast was generous and excellent, and the dining room provided plenty of space to gather for tour planning. All in all, we would certainly stay there again, and have/can recommend without condition or reservation.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the rooms adjacent to the noisy lifts.

Had a 2 night stay and although the exterior is quite bland once inside the hotel was excellent. all staff were efficient and they smile!! unlike many others. The hotel is 10-15 minute walk from station so very central.
