“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

Stayed here with my sister as we were visiting the thermae spa. We arrived extremely early (10:00 in the morning!) and I popped in to see if we could leave our bags while we went to the spa before booking in. The staff were more than welcoming - they allowed us to check in as our room was ready!!! The room was a bit warm and i had trouble figuring out how to turn down the heating (but that could be just me!). The room was lovely and clean and beds v. comfortable. We had not booked breakfast and at £12 I thought this was a bit steep so we went into Bath for brekkie. We had cocktails in the bar at the hotel that evening and although a little expensive at over £8 they were really delicious & all the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Its a central hotel so a little noisy but perfect for exploring Bath which is a beautiful city.

Thank you for your 5 star rating following your stay with us and a visit to the Thermae Bath Spa with your sister. I am delighted to read how much you enjoyed you stay and that you found the staff welcoming, friendly and efficient. Similarly, that your room was clean and comfortable. We hope to welcome you back at some point in the future.

The hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful. Only small criticisms - Family room was only made up for 2 on arrival. Beds very uncomfortable. Main bed too hard. Bed settees are also never comfortable. This was my second visit to the hotel, but I would go back again. It does what it says on the tin. However, compared to some of the other hotels in the area, probably not much character, but we just wanted somewhere to put our heads down after a hard days sightseeing and shopping!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your family sightseeing and shopping break to Bath, and we are appreciative of your compliments of the hotels cleanliness and helpful staff. I apologise that the sofa bed was not prepared prior to your arrival and this will be addressed with Housekeeping. We hope to welcome you and the family back at some point in the future.

Although the hotel is well appointed for a short business or leisure stay, the rooms to the front of the building are poorly soundproofed and suffer from excessive noise from the street, especially when nearby clubs are closing in the small hours of the morning. This probably explains why the hotel still had rooms available on the weekend before Christmas.

Thank you for your review and compliments of our city centre location. It is most unfortunate that your night’s sleep was spoiled by outside street noise from inconsiderate people exiting various establishments during the night. Please be assured, we have endeavoured to sound proof the hotel as efficiently as possible to ensure such noise is kept to a minimum.

A nice Hilton hotel which was central to all area of Bath city centre. We only stayed one night and didn't eat in the restaurant but did have breakfast, the breakfast was very nice and we couldn't have asked for anything more.

The queen room was perfect for our needs and had all the amenities we required, the only downside (and the were minute) was that no biscuits were provided with the tea/coffee facilities and down one of the edges of the sink unit in the bathroom had some long standing dust that was difficult to get to (but not impossible).

Aside of these very small points the room itself was very clean and if in Bath again I would consider staying again.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They are very helpful and smiling ;-) Location is perfect right in the city centre but still quiet. We had a room on the second floor that has a nice view over the river and the Georgian surrounding buildings. Room was clean and bed very comfortable. Breakfast restaurant is nice and provides many sweet and savour options!

We were really surprised by the Bath Hilton - not up to the usual standard of a Hilton. The room (248) was remarkably small for a 4 star and there was grafitti on the ceiling from someone named Lee. Bulbs were gone in the bedside lamp and the whole feeling of the place was of something uncared for. More like a youth hostel than a quality hotel. Staff were friendly enough and the breakfast was nice but we were really underwhelmed and checked out as soon as possible in the morning because it wasn't a nice place to spend time. When there's so much choice in a city like Bath I'd try somewhere else next time

Arrived on Friday 24th Jan as a birthday treat from my husband for myself and daughter. Took nearly 30 minutes to check in even though HHonors. When we arrived in our room, the bedding was dirty ( with blood stains etc) and had lots of hairs on it. Went to reception to tell them and bedding was changed. On further looking in our room there was cobwebs hanging down, mould around window and generally dirty. The night was awful. Rang to reception at midnight due to constant noise on the 2nd floor. This continued for a few hours so didn't get any sleep at all. Went to reception again the next morning and was asked to look at another room on thr third floor as it had been recently refurbished. From looking at it at a glance, we were moving to that from so at sleep we would get some sleep. Went shopping for the day and when we got back had a good look around. We was horrified to find that it was actually worse than the other room. Many hairs on bedding, holes, blood and tears in the bedding. Matresses stained and so were pillows. Only had one pillow per bed which wasn't worth having it was so flat and gave us neck ache. A cushion was put into another pillow case so that could be used as a pillow and it was those cheap and nasty ones were all the filling looks as if it's coming apart or sparse in places. Tissues stuffed under the mattress. Bathroom door woukld not shut, seal around sink not cleaned off, limescale over taps and bath panels. The heating had been set and locked to that temp so could not change it. I could probably go on and on but it was dreadful. For what Hilton stand for, this was not their standard at all. A duty manager came to check and she looked horrified. We went down for breakfast, and then was forgotten at the table. The young girl wasn't on the morning before so it was some different staff. On leaving I was told I would get HHonors points but I stated we had no sleep for 2 nights it was not acceptable. I was refunded a nights stay for one night and £40 off the other night. To be blunt I wouldn't have paid a penny really but we just wanted to get out. We certainly wouldn't be back.

Room Tip: Unless Hilton up their game at this hotel with cleanliness and service don't go.
