“Good location & helpful staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2014

We stayed in this hotel on Saturday 15 March. We wanted a family room for 4 in the centre of Bath and that is quite hard to get. The room and bathroom were very pleasant. Tea, coffee and sparkling water were complimentary. We had a deluxe room which I think is the only option for a family. The buffet breakfast was excellent and we had a good view of the river. It was expensive at £239 for 1 night but that was for all 4 of us with a substantial breakfast. The hotel was completely full which is fairly normal for a Saturday, the rate is much cheaper on a Sunday and during the week. The only downside was the sofa bed. It was too small for our 2 girls aged 12 and 15. The king bed was enormous so we ended up with the 12 year old sharing our bed which is not ideal. It would be better to have a queen bed and a larger sofa bed but that would not suit guests without children. It would be fine for 2 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 small children. Maybe the hotel could consider having a few rooms with 2 queen beds for family bookings. The reception and restaurant staff were all very helpful. Overall a good hotel.

The hilton was a great place to stay, the room was spacious, clean and very quiet. The breakfast was awesome. The staff was very friendly, quick responding, and offered great advice. The only downside was the parking situation and how too load and unload your vehicle. The bar made great cappuccino's and knew how to properly poor a pint.

If you can ignore the first impression of the outside of this hotel you will find much to happy with.

The location cannot be faulted with everything to see within easy reach. A range of pubs and restaurants can be found within a few minutes walk in any direction.

Check in was smooth, quick and efficient. We approached reception a few hours before the official check in time and the gentleman sourced an available room for us immediately.

The room was small, as mentioned in other reviews, but this wasn't a shock as it was billed on the hotel website as a compact double. We have stayed in other hotels where you would not have been told it was compact before arrival. The room and en suite were clean and sufficient for a short stay. The room we were allocated was on the top floor overlooking the river.

All communal areas of the hotel were clean and well lit. I would have felt comfortable as a lone female in this hotel.

The only real negative was the charge for use of wi-fi in the rooms. I would expect a hotel of the Hilton's quality to provide this as standard. There is wi-fi available in the lobby area but we only found out about this as we checked out. It has been a long time since I stayed in a hotel that expected me to hunt down wi-fi.

I cannot comment on either the restaurant or the fitness facilities as we did not use either of these during our stay.

If I were to visit Bath again I would not hesitate to book the Hilton.

We booked the Hilton Bath City for our champagne reception and dinner following our wedding at the Bath Guildhall. The staff at the Hilton Bath City couldn't do enough to make sure our experience was special. From Georgia our events co-ordinator who went out of her way to make sure every little detail was perfect to Antonio and his team on the day who were wonderful, very attentive and lovely to deal with. Our room was decorated beautifully and very comfortable and the food was fabulous! All in all I would highly recommend.

Nice hotel in great location, only 10-15 minutes walk to most of the attractions in central Bath and the railway station.

Room was a little on the small side with no bath but a huge shower enclosure instead. Given there was only a shower in the room it was not that impressive though compared to other Hiltons I have visited, the pressure of the water was very below average. Room was very clean and comfortable.

We stayed on one of the top floors and the view was very impressive though, especially in the early morning.

Lobby bar and cocktails very good, the staff there were friendly and efficient and the service was good.

Breakfast was very good although we were made to wait a while as they said they were too busy and once we finally sat down we saw a lot of the tables were empty which was somewhat contradictory to what we had been told.

Overall though a nice hotel, good location and would stay again if were visiting Bath.

Room Tip: High floor facing front of the hotel.

We made it to the Hilton just after an awful cold, windy day, at Stonehenge, so it felt extra special to get into a warm bed. We slept peacefully, and enjoyed a yummy breakfast at sunrise on the river that I will never forget. We had travelled from the US the day before so we were up before anyone else was, and had the restaurant to ourselves. We would stay here again.

Stayed for one night, excellent location with easy access to everything that I needed. A little bit of work going on in the reception during my stay. Room very clean and tidy and the food for breakfast was good. Will stay again when I'm next down this way.
