We recently stayed in the Francis for a long weekend. The hotel is located in the centre of Bath so you can walk to most of the attractions ,shops, bars and restaurants. It has recently been upgraded in all areas,so you have modern facilities in a classic hotel. The breakfasts were a good standard and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We all plan to return.

Room Tip: Book a room at the front as the view is better

It would be cruel to mark this hotel down to four stars. The front desk staff are among the best we have encountered anywhere in the world. So helpful and made every effort to assist me due to my back problems.
The room we ended up with was a feature room No 113 on the first floor. No bath but an excellent rain and hand shower. The king bed was comfortable although in our view the sheets should have fitted better.
My only disappointment was the breakfast. The coffee was rarely very hot even when requested, large pots were replaced with small on refills so we invariably had to ask for more. The breakfast buffet was only available on the first morning and the cheese offering was frugal to say the least. But please do not let this small negative point deter you from staying here....it really is a great hotel in a central but quiet location.

Room Tip: We were in 113

We spent one night in Bath and stayed here. Reception is small, but the staff is very capable and friendly. Our room was a deluxe room, and was quite large. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had all the amenities for a nice stay. The bath was small but well equipped. We did not have breakfast here. Between the price and reviews on this site, we found a great place a 5 minute walk away. The location of the hotel was within walking distance of all the sights. We would definitely return.

Stayed in this centrally located hotel for my wifes 40th. Hotel was very easy to find and is close to all the main tourist attractions in Bath. The decor was chic, staff were pleasant and very friendly, our room was large & well equipped with a comfy 4 poster bed. Would definately stay again and would recommend to others..!

Only negative is charge for hotel parking @ 15 per night this should be in the room rate but this did allow us to park in one place for the whole of our visit.

We stayed for 2 nights but enjoyed a Bath so much we stayed for another. Hotel is very, very central; the staff extremely professional and polite; food excellent; rooms very well designed, ours newly refurbished; hotel has much character, charm and history. I am usually very critical however this was truly understated excellence.

Room Tip: We stayed in 204 - very nice!

Francis Hotel, Bath. Refurbed, refreshed and retaining all of the splendour of yester year the Hotel truly ranks amongst Britains finest? From the moment we arrived and the concierge parked our car to the moment we left when we were asked if we would like our bags taken to the car the service was impeccable.

Having recently stayed at The Langham in Boston this hotel had a challenge to impress and it stepped up to the mark in almost every area, with failings being a small room (driven by the design of this historic building and the Crossroads Motel style reception which let down the hotel somewhat) however the staff manning the reception were first class.

Our room though small, had all you would require and would expect at £200 per night, the bathroom with its rain shower and photographic wall was spotless. In fact the entire Hotel is spotless from top to bottom, and quite quirky in design.

Location could not be bettered, with all major sites within easy walking distance and if you wish to cut down on car parking charges during the day Charlotte Road car park is less than 200 yds away @ £7.50 for six hours.

Breakfast was the only let down with limited selection, however the Buffett was supplemented with Al la Carte options in the B & B rate.

Bath is one of Britains most interesting and beautiful cities, every corner you turn presents elegant views, with sites all being well looked after and offering great value.

Must sees:
The Roman Baths £14 allow two hours 500yds.
The Royal Crescent 750 yds up hill. Free
The Abbey 500 yds £2.50 donation or Towers Tour £6.
Pultney Bridge 800 yds (used in Les Miserables) free
The Shops.
Numerous Museums all within 1000 yds
Jane Austin Centre 50 yds

Only stayed one night will return to enjoy this wonderful City and Hotel again, highly recommend.
