“Good location Good Food Good Stay”
Reviewed 8 November 2011

This hotel is in a beautiful setting and our room was spotless and had a lovely view.
A bonus for us was the half-hourly 'bus service into Bath which was a short 5minute walk from the hotel and spared us having to drive and look for car-parking, which can be expensive. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and all the food was excellent.
The lounge was cold and sparsely furnished and lacked the character of the rest of the hotel and would benefit from a few more tables. Likewise the dining room was dark and lacking ambience. The 4 days we were there the lift was out of order which made carrying our luggage difficult up several flights of stairs, especially as we are of mature years! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room with a view.

Thank you for your review I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and I would like to apologise for the problem you encountered with the lift, we were awaiting a new motor and I am pleased to say that it has now been installed and the lift is working perfectly as you will see when you next visit.

...and a lovely, well run hotel. Weekend away with friends meant 2 rooms, numbers 57 and 59, next door to each other on top floor. Spacious, nicely furnished, 6ft comfortable bed, newly done bathroom and all scrupulously clean- cleanest I've stayed in for a long long time. Lift only goes to second floor meaning stairs up to top/third floor but not a problem for us. View from window was absolutely stunning over beautifully maintained hotel grounds and across green valley beyond. Attentive, polite and well informed staff on reception and at breakfast.

Wedding on the Saturday night with loud music but we could hear nothing from our room and enjoyed two excellent nights sleep. Ate at the Hop Pole pub both nights. Excellent food and conveniently located just at the end of the drive so an easy stagger back.

Thoroughly enjoyed whole experience and would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Check with hotel to ensure allocated a room that suits your mobilty

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, I am pleased that you had an enjoyable stay and indeed that you enjoyed the meal at our Hop Pole Inn which is very popular with many of guests being as you know just at the end of the driveway to the hotel

We ventured out of London to see the country and chose Bath. When we booked the hotel, we did not realize it was so far out of Bath proper, and when we left Bath, it was dark. It was challenging to find the hotel in the dark, windy roads, especially since we were driving on the "wrong" side of the road!
The signs do not say, "Best Western", though we did see signs for the Limpley Stoke Hotel. We just didn't immediately realize they were one and the same.
The building is gorgeous, in a gorgeous setting. We had a drink in the pub and enjoyed our experience. The room was comfortable and clean. I would not hesitate to return.

Thank you for the review,I would agree that the Limpley Stoke hotel is a little tricky to find but think you will agree that it is well worth the effort in order to experience the beautiful village setting and the glorious views of the Avon Valley being as it is in an area of oustanding natural beauty.

We stayed here for three really lovely nights commencing on the 26th of October. We were wowed as soon as we arrived with the sweeping views of the valley. On entering the hotel you are greeted by a grand entrance hall with some really nice art work (The whole hotel including the room we were in had lots of interesting artwork to cast your eye over). We stayed in room 46 during our break and found it to be a well appointed room of good size with a modern well equipped bathroom. The beautiful views of the gardens and down the valley from the window really topped it off. The breakfast had lots of choice, was always fresh and we didn't have to be out of bed to early to enjoy it!!!!!

We cannot comment on the standard of the restaurant or bar menu as we didn't use the hotel for meals in the evening. We ate at the Hop Pole Inn which is located at the end of the hotel drive (all of fifty paces). The Hop Pole Inn is a lovely old village pub which according to the history blurb in the back of the menu has featured in four films. We had a lovely well presented, competitively priced meal every night and were looked after superbly by very attentive staff.

We used this hotel as a base for our trips to Bath and Longleat and found it to be perfectly located for both destinations, only being a few minutes drive from both places. On a side note, both days out were great and we recommend a trip to this hotel and the area if you get the chance. We would have no hesitation about going back for another break.

We attended a wedding and stayed there on the 8th October, everything about the day was lovely the wedding breakfast was presented beautifully (a little too much food) and the rooms were exceptional, there was a coach of older people staying and they were friendly the person who moaned about the older people should remember they will be old some day! I could not find fault with the breakfast atleast all the wedding party enjoyed the overnight stay and there were quite a few of us I have not heard of any bad reports from the ones who stayed or the guests who could not stay the night many of which wished they had stayed. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would love to stay again. Well done to all staff at hotel.

I found this to be a good value 3 star hotel set in exquisite surroundings and a short 10 minute drive into bath.

As my partner is a smoker,we booked the only smoking room, which is number 53. This is towards the rear of the hotel and the window looks into the side of a very steep hill so you have to give up on the views - a very worthwhile trade-off as far as my partner is concerned!.We found the room to be spacious and comfortable with a nice bathroom and good tea making facilities.A word of warning here;Best Western central booking do not appear to have the smoking room on record so you have to book directly with the hotel

There is a nice lounge and a bar where you can relax and read the papers and soak up the atmosphere and take afternoon tea if that's your thing. There are chandeliers in the public areas which add to the refined ambience.

I do enjoy a full English breakfast on my travels and the one provided here was very good with hard working staff always in attendance

Another big point in the hotel's favour is its large free car park - many hotels in Bath expect you to, either park in the street and/or,pay outrageous fees!

My only real complaint is that the lift - strongly defended by the manager in a previous review - was not working during my entire 3 night stay. This needs to be sorted sooner ,rather than later,if they wish to keep attracting the many elderly visitors that I saw there.
Another small point, also mentioned in a previous review, was that in my room, and also the ground floor loos, is that the toilet seats will not stay up on thier own - a bit of an inconvenience (no pun intended,) - for men.

There is a comprehensive sandwich and snack menu available until 10pm and a very good a` la carte in the main restaurant, where I found the food to be excellent and the wine to be reasonably priced.

The central heating is very efficient and I found that the room was warm enough for me to switch the radiator off.

The old inn at the bottom of the drive is only about 60 paces away and has a good food and drink menu.It is quite quaint - in fact so much so,that the news of all day opening has not reached them - so don't expect to get any food or drink between 2.30pm-6.00pm.

All in all,an enjoyable experience ,and at these reasonable prices,if you don't expect the Waldorf or the Ritz you won't be dissapointed.
In October we paid £78(about $120 usa ) per night for the room and breakfast for two.

Likes: comfortable beds, ample parking close to Bath
Dislikes:lift not working.

All the best in your travels,

Peter and Rosalind.

Room Tip: Book direct with hotel if you want the smoking room. There appeared to be one room wih a balcony th...

Stayed here for the second time in the last 18 months, last time was OK ish, and this time we attended a family function and stayed overnight.

You pay your money you take your chances!

What a mistake! Room 11 is on the first floor up two flights of creaky stairs, turn right and follow the uniquely sloping corridor (this was before having any drinks!) and the room is on the right. The room door is delicately decorated with a fire break-glass device as the room is a fire exit route? (strange that the break glass had no glass in it nor did it contain a key to open the door. So picture the scene, the hotel is in flames you follow the fire exite route signs, you come to room 11, bingo, it's locked (as I'm in bed with my wife and the the chain on the door of course). How bizare!

Luckily there was no fire during the time at the hotel!

Now then the room. When you open the door beware, it doesn't fully open and bounces back from the door stop catching you unawares, well it did me!

When you eventually do get in, there is a small double bed 2 chairs, bedside cabinets a wardrobe and a small dressing table. Room is something there isn't a lot of! Make sure only one person moves at a time otherwise you'll fall out with each other! Lampshade has obviously seen some action over the decades, it was bashed, broken and a probably good barometer of the hotel overall = it's seen better days! Bathroom, clean, simple, shower not too bad, loo was wobbly and seat does not stay up by itself!! (An important point for males!)

Breakfast. Another forgettable experience, dis-interested staff who are AWOL when you need them!

I could go on, but I have a life to lead.

Want my advice? Avoid! Go to a Premier Inn!
