The bedrooms were very comfortable, warm & well equipped, can only imagine how good the views were over the open country & village (very wet & windy both days) The lounges and bar areas were comfortable & spacious. I would suggest in better weather it would be an ideal place to use as a touring & walking base given its proximity to Bath, I for one will bear it in mind.

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay at Best Western Limpley Stoke. I chose it because of its reasonable cost (Bath is expensive!) and the fact that we could park our car within the grounds.

I emailed a few days beforehand and asked for a quiet room on a high floor. When we arrived, we duly got this, being up on the third floor in a lovely room (newly decorated).

The room was very quiet (despite a full wedding reception with music on the Friday night and a large party on the Saturday night). I can honestly say it was one of the quietest rooms I have had in England.

The breakfast was wonderful with everything you could want - from cereals, prunes, toast, full English breakfast, toast, pastries and croissants. No skimping there as the bacon was very lean and of good quality.

On Saturday night we ordered sandwiches from the bar and they were generous with salad and crisps. My cheese ones could have been made with good quality cheese though, rather than the processed variety.

All in all we spent two peaceful and contented nights here and I would fully recommend a stay here. It's only a few minutes by car into the centre of Bath.

Room Tip: Choose one on the third floor for a quiet night.

Have stayed at this hotel several times, would always recommend, very good facilities, friendly staff, excellent rooms. All round good comfortable hotel. Breakfast is mainly buffet but has additional menu items that can be ordered. Good location, also has pub just down the road that is very good, meals can be charged to room.

A two night stay for a conference held elsewhere, bed and breakfast only. A double room, although I was on my own. However, just two chairs in the room, one for an adult, the other small enough for a child only. Lighting was diabolical, low energy lamps in main and bedside lighting barely gave enough light to read by. Bed comfortable, but duvet too heavy (but that's a personal choice). Room was accessible only by climbing several flights of stairs, even after taking a lift to the second floor. Breakfast plain but edible, coffee superb! Bathroom adequate, water hot straightaway ( a bonus in a building that old!) shower good. But the toilet paper..........uuugh! The cheapest possible.

If you're organising a coach trip there, not recommended as access up a steep and narrow drive, with little if no room to turn at the top, especially when the car park is used for guests to a wedding. If the management had enough gumption to cone off a turning space, even for a smaller coach, that would be a bonus. The hotel is in sore need of modernisation and bringing into the 21st century.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay due to the large room we had on the third floor, with fine views of the (flooded) river.
Room furnishings could have been a little better, but nothing to complain about.
The fruit at breakfast did not have the quality of fresh fruit, excepting the prunes, which were brilliant! There was a good selection at the breakfast buffet.
The staff were all very helpful and polite.
All in all we enjoyed our stay though, and would stay there again: very suitable for our needs.

Room Tip: We stayed as a couple on a business trip to a trade conference. There was a wedding in the hotel on...
