“Gillian Jacobs, Historic and Lovely”
Reviewed 16 January 2013

We stayed at this hotel last March for three nights, it is such a lovely Hotel, we booked through Shearings. The Hotel was warm and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities, remote TV , bath and a shower, it was quite quiet . Bath is full of Historic adventures, and the staff were on hand to give any info you needed even give you maps with places of interest marked out . The food was excellent from a full english breakfast to a full evening menu a la carte if you wanted it , and of course a Bar for a night cap, plus help yourself to coffee and mints if you want. The staff were very helpful always ready to help, it is all down hill to the city centre and up hill coming back but worth the walk because Bath is so full of interest, but there is a bus route if you find the walking to much. We recomend this hotel to anyone and would go again as there is still so much more to see.

Room Tip: Our room over looked the front and did not hear anything , if its warm get a balcony so you can sit...

Lovely looking hotel, lovely room, lovely service, great food, prices reasonable and good value for money. Excellent views of the historic city down the hill. Room quiet, no disturbances. The best I've stayed in for quite a while. You will not be disappointed. Recommended.

We stayed here at the start of November and had a lovely time. We travelled as part of a Shearings mid week break. Our driver Neil was superb. All the staff at the hotel were brilliant. Our room was on the road side of the hotel, but this didn't stop us from having 4 good nights sleep. The food was good with plenty of choice, we ate from the set menu every night, but you did get a choice of the 'dish of the day'
There was no entertainment of an evening, but one night the barman did do a quiz which I have to say was the highlight of our week.
It's true that the hotel is at the top of a very steep hill, but the views more than make up for that. We used the bus to get into the town. Bath is one of our favourite places, and next time we visit we will be booking to stay at The Lansdown.
Many thanks to all the staff. Keep up the good work.

I stayed at The Lansdowne for a couple of nights with 2 friends and we had a great time. The rooms were comfortable and we all had a goods nights sleep. The staff were friendly, knowledgable about the area and on hand to answer all questions.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was great. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. We also enjoyed watching" strictly" in the comfort of one of the many lounges.

Room Tip: We all had single rooms located on 3rd floor. It would have been nice to be able to open the windows...

Beautiful old hotel full of character. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and evening meals were good, you could upgrade to the a la carte menu, which i tried and was excellent! Some parts could do with a lick of paint, however there was someone doing some paintwork. Would definately go back and recommend this hotel. Excellent bus service into centre of Bath, however it is only a 10 minute walk, quite a steep climb coming back to hotel.

My husband and i have just returned from a week end break in Bath. This was booked by my husband as he always takes me away for a short break for my birthday, this time he chose Bath and booked us in at the Lansdown hotel. The staff were welcoming on arrival and helpfull too. We were given instruction on how to locate our room which was on the third floor no 305. As we vacated lift and made our way we started to feel a little worrird on what to expect, the carpet in hallways were dirty and well worn, paint work and wall paper too. We reached our room and what a dissapointment! The room was so out dated and in need of full refurbishment. I would reccomend that this room should be closed and not used again until this has been done. I must say that it wa clean warm and bed linnen spotless (thank goodness else i would have been out like a shot) my husband asked for an up grade but as the hotel was fully booked this was not possible. The meal on our first night was was ok but veg and the 3 very small roasties were frozen not fresh . The second night did seem a little better although not much veg for two of us . Breakfast was not hot and i can,t help wander how they manage to serve everything so quickly, as soon as you finish one course your plate was taken away and the next served straight away. The staff were lovely very friendly and willing to help you in any way it was such a shame about every thing else.

Room Tip: Ask for one that has been refurbished
