“Surpassed Our Expectations!”
Reviewed 7 April 2013

We could not have been more pleased with our stay at the Tasburgh House. From the moment we arrived to the time we left this morning, we were made to feel at home. We stayed in the Elliot Room which was very bright, clean, and restful. Breakfast was fantastic! Sue, the proprietor, went out of her way and arranged for a car to pick us up at Heathrow. She recommended Mad Max Tours for a visit to Stonehenge and a tour of quaint English villages and lunch at a local pub. Walks into Bath were always pleasant via the towpath. We hope to return to Bath and to the Tasburgh House. It far surpassed our expectations!

My Wife and I stayed at the Tasburgh House for 3 nights on our journey to cornwall from the north, we were welcomed very warmley by Sue and had a very pleasant stay, the room and bathroom was very well apppointed and very clean with everything we needed. We took breakfast in the conservatory with views overlooking the garden and was pleased with the variety and the quality of the food. The public rooms are all furnished to a very high standard and are very welcoming. The Hotel is within walking distance of bath by road or by canal towpath and it is easy to get a bus or taxi the shiort distance back to the hotel ln fact we never used the car at all during our stay. Traveling with our daughter and family from New York to Bangkok we decided to visit three cities in England. We made an amazing discovery in Bath...The delightful Tasburgh House, Hotel and guesthouse. We occupied three guest rooms and each one was totally unique and celebrates an English Author. The grandchildren stayed in the Dicken's room and have subsequently reread most of the classic books. My husband and I loved the Jane Austen room, which we requested because of my high school term paper written many years ago.
We actually had a marvelous introduction to Bath because the stunning and vibrant owner of the hotel spent an hour with us as we enjoyed a wonderful English breakfast. The staff was so anxious to please and meet all our needs. In my dreams I wish there was an international chain of Tasburgh Guesthouses. However, I know this cannot become a reality as it was not the building, not all the wonderful room amenities, nor the ideal location...it was the people who work so hard to make it all happen!
We will return and we hope it will be sooner than later.

I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful review. Not because of the very lovely compliments you have strongly emphasised but because my staff and I strive so hard to make everyone's experience of their stay here as good as yours and sometimes we simply don't quite manage to get everything perfect. On the occasions when we do manage to truly please our guests we find it the most motivating and satisfying experience and we all want to simply think of ways of how we can do more to satisfy our guests.
Thank you and your family for taking the trouble to write about your personal experience. We'll try and please others in the same way

We arrived at Tasburgh House at around 10am on the Saturday. Although we knew our room would not be ready, Sue was really helpful and looked after our bags, so we could spend the day in Bath. We did not return till 10pm, and again, this was no problem, and our request for a glass of wine upon our arrival was no problem. The staff could not be more helpful or friendly.

The bed was super comfy and the room spotlessly clean. Lovely Arran Aromatics toiletries. The website almost doesn't do the place jutice.

The breakfast room is most welcoming, with a delicious range of fresh fruits, yoghurts, toast, home-made granola, cheese, ham, pastries.... it was also a wonderful surprise to spot gluten-free toast on the menu.

It's a lovely walk along the canal into Bath (15/20 mins if you don't mind a brisk pace). Ladies - just don't go wearing any silly high heels!

A really lovely, warm place!

Room Tip: Thomas Hardy room is on the ground floor and looks out over the gardens. It has a shower over the b...

We were three girls celebrating our freind getting married and Sue went out of her way to make the stay special by treating us to a glass of champagne to cleberate and always being super nice. We would recommend the hotel to anyone lookign for excellent service and a kind caring host.

I am so glad you all enjoyed your time in Bath and, of course, that you were pleased to have chosen to stay at Tasburgh House. I must confess that living in such a lovely City with a wealth of interesting and charming places to visit makes me and my staff want to pass on our knowledge of this wonderful environment around us. I hope you all enjoy the reason you came here - a sensational Wedding Day!

A fantastic setting on the hill overlooking Bath and champagne brought to the room on arrival - a great start to our stay. The room was nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed and attractive Victorian features. The bathroom though was rather small with a tiny, cramped sink. The staff are all very professional and helpful. The walk through the gardens and along the tow path by the canal is a must.

Room Tip: Wordsworth room lovely but small bathroom

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay but have taken note of your comment regarding the bathroom and the wash hand basin. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions of the house being Victorian and having to create bathrooms to fit into each room there hasn't been much scope to introduce bathrooms without reducing space in the rooms. In this instance I opted to have a bath installed with a shower over which, of course, takes up rather a lot of space. Needless to say we all totally agree that the sink could be larger. If we can entice you back again you will find that one will have been installed.
Thank you again for your valid comments.

My wife and I stayed only for 1 night on 12/3/2013. We were warmly greeted and made to feel most welcome by Sue. We arrived early and asked if we could leave the car whilst we walked into Bath for the afternoon. Sue gave us a map and good directions. It was a bitterly cold day and we arrived back at the hotel around 5PM to be greeted by a charming young lady who showed us to our room. The room was very clean and very well decorated with a good Sony TV.
The bed was extremely comfortable with top quality bed linen.
Breakfast was superb. Top quality produce and a wide choice. I particularly enjoyed the full english breakfast. Sadly all too soon we had to leave but will definitely return later in the year when the weather is warmer.
