From my first contact with the hotel on the phone to when we left, we could not have asked for a better experience. It was an anniversary event and our spacious and well decorated room was lit with electric candles and there were rose petals in the bath. The welcome was very warm and each member of staff was friendly and wanted to be helpful in their various roles. Our evening meal was exceptional with excellent service from the sommelier and our waitress. Our only critism was that the rooms were too warm at night despite the radiators being off and the window open.

A beautiful hotel with fantastic spa facilities. The grounds are gorgeous and each room has a unique feel. It is easy to walk into the centre of Bath from the hotel. The food is outstanding, but you certainly have to pay for the quality! Good for special occasions.

Two nights at the marvelous Bath Priory Hotel and our stay was perfect from the moment we were greeted on the gravel drive to the friendly goodbyes at the end of our stay. Of particular note was the very kind attention paid to our 3 year old son who was treated with great kindness and humour. Our room was very comfortable with a separate bed made up for our son and a basket full of toys and other goodies to keep him occupied. The spa and pool, the meals (including a great lunch menu that saved the day when Bath was overrun by Christmas shoppers), the gardens (which, even in November, were enjoyable to explore), the decor and furnishings and beatiful paintings, and an immediately trustworthy babysitter all helped to ensure a stay that was perfect. All members of staff were very well presented and performed their jobs with a smile and just the right degree of friendliness. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We recently stayed at the Bath Priory for the first time and wished that we had come here earlier rather than other over rated hotels in Bath. From the minute we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and this set the standard for all the staff, every member of the hotel team are polite, friendly and quietly efficient, always hitting the right balance of attentive service. We were in the Heather room which is a good size with an excellent bathroom and lovely views over the gardens at the rear, they must look spectacular in the summer!.

We had 2 simply fantastic dinners in the Restaurant. My wife and I have been to some excellent restaurants, but this is the absolute finest. Every course was exquisitely prepared with such a great balance of flavour, the chef Sam Moody must get a Michelin star soon. Special mention for the sommeliers who advised so well with wines to perfectly match our food selections.

Cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear.

We stayed at the Bath Priory again for my wife's birthday early October on a Saturday and Sunday evening and as ever left feeling extremely satisfied.

We were in the Lobelia room again which has great views over the gardens and is comfortable and spacious. We were fortunate to experience unseasonably warm weather which resulted in a large amount of time being spent on the terrace enjoying various refreshments as the room was very hot; something we never expected for October.

We visited the Garden Spa on the Sunday. This was closed for refurbishment the last time we visited and were delighted with the improvements made especially to the pool area and the treatments received. One point to note however is that shortly after checking into the room on the Saturday we telephoned the spa to make sure they had our booking for the Sunday to be told that they had in fact booked us in for later that day. Fortunately though this was corrected after a couple of telephone conversations with the times broadly matching our original appointments and I am obviously glad to have phoned ahead.

We dined in the restaurant both evenings. The food was delicious; in particular the langoustine cannelloni and venison with the cheese course being as good as ever. The restaurant was extremely busy on the Saturday but the waiting staff - none of which we recognised from previous visits - coped well albeit with the length between courses being a a ittle longer than we would have liked (and we like to take our time over a meal). This was however more than redressed on the Sunday evening with our faith in the restaurant being restored by absolutely impeccable service from a very pleasant young lady.

My wife received a birthday card and very kind gift of some toiletries from Caroline Browning on the Sunday, which was addressed to me rather than my wife. This caused much hilarity especially given that toiletries were clearly made for men in mind such as shaving cream. We did bring this to the attention of the reception staff and it was very quickly resolved.

I think that it fair to say we both still love the Priory with any lapses of service and attention to detail being only very minor in nature and satisfactorily addressed.

Room Tip: Go for a Premier delux room all of which overlook the gardens.

My wife booked us into the Bath Priory hotel for 2 nights . Knowing it was a Relais hotel our expectations were high and the hotel exceeded them in every way . The 2 standout features of our stay were the amazingly helpful, polite, charming and courteous staff . They were sublime and secondly the quality of the food which was fantastic . We chose to eat both nights at the hotel and have eaten some of the best food we have ever had . Over the last few years we have eaten at some of the Uk's best restaurants esp in London and this was better than most and as good as the very best . It was simply exceptional from the aperitifs thru to the petit fours .
The hotel itself was old english charm personified , open fires , beautiful lounges , quiet atmosphere . The bedrooms were very nice with a great bathrooms . Only 2 small criticisms . One no form of bedside clock or docking device and the mattress was a little soft . Neither prevent The Priory from receiving 5 stars from ourselves . Bath was also very charming and we experienced politeness and courtesy everywhere esp in the xmas Market . We also went to the Thermae Bath Spa and they have an open air rooftop pool and we were there at dusk and it was a great experience but we thought was very expensive for what it was at over £50 for the 2 of us . A lot of cash for a swim !
Overall a wonderful treat .
