3rd stay at this Hotel in 10 years, something must be right..
Lovely location just outside the tourist centric town, it's a bit of a walk into town but it's very scenic taking you past the Royal Crescent and though beautiful Victoria Park
Hotel itself is stunning, an early 19th Century Grand Private residence
We had a lovely room overlooking the gardens, gorgeous views. It needed a Dyson Bladeless Fan to keep it cool, when we were there, which seemed a bit odd given the thickness of the walls etc.
It has beautiful gardens with areas to sit and relax, more akin to what you would find in a National Trust property, amazing
Breakfast is as you'd expect for a hotel of this pedigree, fantastic. We didn't manage to squeeze in for dinner, see below(
Hotel has a very usable spa, with a small pool and spa area
Also has a warm outdoor pool

Tips
If booking make sure you think ahead on the restaurant, it's pretty small and gets booked up very quickly
From the emails I received since my visit it's worth being on their mailing list, they seen to have some decent specialist events

We stayed for two nights over the bank holiday weekend. The building is stunning upon arrival but the real gem is the garden. We had asked for a room overlooking the garden and were given one on the basement that barely saw the garden (Lavender). The room had a wonderful bathroom but we wanted to wake up to more sunlight so we told this to reception. They were very helpful and put us in another room on the first floor (Lobelia) which was just perfect. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Service was what you would expect given the price you pay - absolutely wonderful.

Overall the hotel has a certain old school, traditional charm to it with the furniture and the décor. We had some cocktails at the bar which were quiet good, followed by the tasting menu on Saturday night at the restaurant. What a great meal! Breakfast was very good as well with good cold selection as well as a variety of egg dishes that you can order from the menu.

The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the spa which was just OK. I would happily overlook this however as I did not stay here for the spa and the overall experience more than made up for it.

Room Tip: Lobelia room was great overlooking the garden. Lavender room was on the basement but might have the...

Having just reviewed a functional hotel used for business, time to go to the opposite end of the spectrum with the luxury abode which is the The Bath Priory

I will just throw a few adjectives out first: gorgeous, sumptuous, classic, traditional and upmarket. Add to that the great staff who know what their clientele expect at this price point and you are guaranteed high standards and an enjoyable visit. You really cannot go wrong. But equally it is not a snobby place. I will make the assumption that a few of my fellow guests were not, ahem, short of a bob or two, but in no way was my party treated any differently.

If you want to treat your nearest and dearest something special then a night or two here with the exceptional dining experience is just the ticket

We stayed one night and enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu with wine flight. We knew this was going to be a superb venue but were overwhelmed with just how good it was. Upon arrival, one of the reception staff gave us a brief tour of the building before showing us to our room - a huge double with fine views of the gardens (an impressive feature of the hotel - beautifully laid out and well worth a leisurely stroll through them). The private and public rooms are beautifully presented with quality furnishings, artwork and décor. The hotel has a stately home feel to it.

Fine weather allowed us to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails on the terrace. Our meal was superb and we were particularly impressed by the time taken by our waiting staff to fully describe each course as it arrived. Having chosen the wine flight, the sommelier was brilliant - her knowledge and enthusiasm made the event even better. She even gave us a hand written note of recommended wines for a forthcoming trip to her native Italy!

It is true that you get what you pay for in life but here I believe we had excellent value for money. We could find no fault at all and will definitely return.

The reception staff were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble. The room (Lilac) was delightful with lovely views over the garden and countryside beyond, the bed was large and comfortable . The bar is very "old country house" and the better for that. I have seen comments that the furniture is old fashioned, true and very comfortable! The restaurant is a pleasant light and airy room with garden views. We felt the service although efficient enough lacked warmth or engagement, the exception being the Italian manager. The food was good although not as hot as it should have been and I don't expect to have to ask for my wine glass to be refilled in a restaurant of this standard. There is much to commend this hotel but with tighter management and perhaps restaurant staff training, it could be even better.

Stayed 2 nights Fri/Sat for our anniversary. Staff friendly and welcoming. Upgraded to junior suite overlooking rear gardens. Food excellent. 20 min walk to Bath centre through a park. Ate in 'The Pantry' and service was outstanding. Thoroughly recommend and look forward to another stay there.

We came here for 2 nights to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. What a treat! We were blown away by the room, (Heather) which we had been upgraded to overlooking the gorgeous gardens with a balcony.
The service was impeccable throughout our stay.
The food was justifiably Michelin starred. Each morsel was delicious. The best food we've ever tasted.
The short walk into bath was pleasant through the park and passing The Crescent and The Circus.
We can't wait to return if we can ever get child care arranged for our 3 children again!!

Room Tip: Room overlooking the garden with a balcony are wonderful.
