“A relaxing and friendly experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014

My husband and I spent a few days in Bath and stayed at Villa Magdala, recommended by my boss. The atmosphere was relaxed and very friendly. Accommodation was clean and well ventilated. Breakfasts were lovely although the offer of bucks fizz was wasted on us...but a nice touch for those more inclined! We would happily return to the B&B in the future.

I have stayed at Villa Magdala three times and I can't praise it enough! The rooms are beautifully and tastefully decorated and all the rooms have big comfortable beds. The icing on the cake was The White Company bedding and toiletries! A real touch of class and luxury and the service is impeccable! You must also stay for breakfast! The scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and a glass of Bucksfizz is not to be missed!

Thank you for your review - it is much appreciated the scrambled eggs and salmon is my favourite too and you're correct breakfast and a bucks fizz is not to be missed. The laundry is just such a nice treat 550 thread count and beautifully starched - when your away it makes it all the more enjoyable.

See you both again soon.

We had a lovely weekend stay for my husbands birthday end of April. Weather was pretty showery but nice touch of Villa M umbrellas to borrow. Staff very friendly and welcoming and responded quickly to any queries (ie the room cleaner had forgotten to put soap in bathroom - sorted immediately).
The B&B is brilliantly located for a short walk into town (5 mins).
Breakfast was lovely on both mornings incl a nice touch of Buck's Fizz or Bellini if you wished. It might have been good for breakfast to perhaps go until 10.30 (currently it is from 8-10am on weekends) as if you are having a special weekend away it's nice to have just that extra bit of a lie in/relax but it's a small thing. All in all a very lovely place. It isn't cheap but is def on par with a small boutique hotel but just that little bit more relaxed as it's a B&B which suits us perfectly. Def recommended and would return.

Thank you for your review, we may well review breakfast times, however the staff that serve you breakfast also service your rooms so we do have a time constraints to try and work within. Glad that the small problem of forgotten soap was immediately rectified.

Look forward to seeing you again.

AMAZING!! Lovely, stylish hotel with friendly staff! The breakfast was second to none. We stayed two nights and it is really convenient for exploring Bath. We were pleasantly surprised by an upgrade at no extra cost and a discount card that just made the experience even better. Loved it!

A free upgrade and the Big Ben discount card - you don't get much better than that - that's why it is always best to book directly with any independent guest house / hotel.

See you both again.

I recently stayed in this hotel over the weekend. The rooms were clean, modern and spacious. The buidling is beautiful and in a very nice part of town. It is easy to walk everywhere and close to some nice parks. The hotel is set in a really old building but it has been renovated in a really nice modern style but still keeping the orignial features. The breakfast was incredible. Arguably the rooms were a touch over heated and a bath would have been nice (but then i did book the room so should not really complain). Having said this these facts are arbitary considering how much we enjoyed our stay.

But what stuck me the most regaridng this hotel were the staff. All the staff were quite young but incredibly helpful and knowledgable about Bath. To be honest they could not have been more helpful. They really made our stay.

If you are visiting Bath and want a smart, classy and extremely friendly hotel with fantastic rooms and food I would suggest Villa Magdala.

All the best

Room Tip: they all seemed pretty nice.

What a lovely charming hotel. It was better than my expectations, with a warm welcome on arrival a complementary tea/coffee & muffin!
Rooms were lovely & spotlessly clean, bathroom however was tiny tho but nice all the same. Lovely towels & bed linen, with tea/coffee facilities to!
Great breakfast with lots of choice, so was stuffed for hours! :)
Lovely staff but especially Kim, who was so helpful & kind, & couldn't do enough for you, but to be honest all staff were fab!
Would definetly recommend this hotel & will going back again to stay. Only 8-10 mins walk from the centre etc, so fab location.

Thank you for your kind comment, sorry you found the bathroom small but we have the constraints of fitting into a listed building that does restrict us, do give us a call next time and we can talk you through the rooms and their bathrooms before you book.

Glad you enjoyed the breakfast- it really does set you up for the day!

See you again next time you stay with us.

Just 10 min walk from the train station and from the city centre, Villa Magdala is a beautiful, luxurious hotel that offers comfort and elegance in a relaxed setting. The staff are really friendly and you will receive a 'Big Ben' card that entitles you to discounts for attractions and food, amongst others. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Really cosy!

Room Tip: Book in advance and you can get upgraded!

The Big Ben discount scheme is really worth having while in the city....it is only available to independent guest houses in the city and gives you discount in restaurants and at attractions etc....

It is much appreciated you taking the time to write a review....thank you!
