Please accept our sincere apologies for our shortcomings. All rooms are checked daily
by the housekeeperm and I cannot understand why your room was not checked properly.
I have no explanation as to why thereceptionist was not welcoming and smiling as I can
assure you they always are.
Parking in Bath is expensive and to the best of my knowledge Bailbrook Lodge our sister hotel
is the only hotel that does not charge for parking.
Once again thank you for staying with us and I can aasure you we have corrected our shortcomings.

Having read the bitter and very long complaints on this site by one set of guests I was a little apprehensive especially as I knew the place when it was rather run down.. How foolish, as it is now refurbished and reinvigorated to a very high standard. Our deal was outstanding which effectively meant that we paid £10 a night for a really good room with full facilities. Having free access to a luggage room when our train didn't leave until four hours after checkout was a lovely gesture. The staff were outstanding - reception, service, bar and restaurant. Welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food and bar service was outstanding also. Probably the best and most succulent steak that I have ever had - a ribeye that was more tender than any bland fillet. Afternoon tea scones were freshly baked and still warm. Breakast had elegant choices and was presented beautifully. We cannot recommend the Royal too highly.

This hotel is a stone throw from the train station, and also all the shopping you could want.
Stayed 2 nights over a weekend with a 3 course meal package, fridays dinner was not really up to scratch (in our opinion), but saturday was good. The staff here are very friendly and easily approachable and everything is on your doorstep, this hotel is perfect for a sightseeing/shopping trip and the bar has some good quality beers/wines and aspalls cider on tap!!!! So that was a bonus for me! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

we stayed as part of the spa package weekend, this included B&B, 3 course dinners, champagne, cream tea and entry to thermae bath spa. The rest of the time we shopped till we dropped! The Hotel is perfectly located for train station, shops, spa etc., you can walk everywhere and even come back to hotel to drop off shopping, it is all ten or so minutes away. The dinner was excellent both nights and superb value- steak particularly good, service friendly, efficient and attentive. Full breakfast was relaxed and generous.Room (no. 120 I think) - a twin room - was lovely - bit small but high ceilings so fine - bathroom gorgeous and recently refurbished. hotel were really accomodating; we didnt have time to have the cream tea until the sunday afternoon (having checked out sunday morning) it was no problem - we stored all our shopping at the hotel and had the cream tea and champers before getting on the train at 5.30 pm! nothing was a problem to tyhe staff and overall, a great weekend and bath at christmas is lovely - we went to the xmas markets too - gorgeous.

We stayed for one night at The Royal Hotel at the beginning of August. The hotel is really conveniently located for the station and the centre of Bath and is within easy walking distance of the major local attractions and shops. We drove and the hotel does have a small car park at the rear where you can reserve a space at a small additional charge. When we arrived (early) our room was already prepared and the hotel staff we polite and helpful. The décor of the hotel is slightly out of date and is not terribly luxurious but this is of course reflected in the price that you pay. The rooms are clean and well appointed and the bathroom was fine – if a little basic – there was only a shower not a bath. The overall experience was fine and good value for money but it didn’t blow us away.

5 of us stayed at The Royal Hotel the weekend before last, booking a Xmas shopping break. We booked a triple and double room and although we did not ask the rooms were next to each other which was really nice (we have tried in previous years at different hotel groups, booking well in advance in July and we have been miles apart McDonald Hotels in particular do not honour requests).

The rooms were lovely, the triple was quite roomy always difficult when you have 3 women staying together. Hotel service was excellent, we had a lovely welcome when we arrived and we were told that our rooms were ready well before the standard check in time.

We had a lovely evening meal in the hotel restaurant, very festive and service was excellent only one critism they had sold out of my favourite desert.. Very good value for money. We also had lunch in the bar one day again very quick service considering how busy they were and excellent staff.

Breakfast was the best I have ever had, plenty of choice and the waiter was very good with our requests.

Could not have chosen a better location for shopping, obviously we were in the town so we cannot expect quiet. The hotel occupants were very good no slamming of doors or walking up and down the corridors as in previous years in Chester, we were quite close to the crossing so the beeping of the crossing was a little annoying but the hotel cannot be blamed for outside noise.

We all agreed we had a wonderful time, plenty of coffee etc in the room, even water and filter coffee available.

Could not recommend highly enough, we would definately visit again.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel with a travelling companion. The location was excellent, being near to the railway station and a nice walk to the city centre were all of the attractions and shopping were. The staff was friendly, helpful and the service was great. The room was very clean and quite comfortable. The bar was cozy with a nice traditional atmosphere. Meal plan worked well for us- generous portions and well presented.
We would stay again.
